A Black Spiderman?

I think you will have to stretch your imagination for this new “Karate” Kid even further than the original…and that is not a good thing, imo.

1- No black Spider Man. Just won’t work and it’ll piss a lot of people off, and

2-We need a good Spawn movie, and Michael Jai White needs to get a second crack at the role.[/quote]

McFarlane has been working on new script…claims he’s 80% done with it:

Also,I do agree that Spider Man should be white…we don’t need to alter the dynamic of the main characters. Changing an icon, superhero, etc just for the sake of lack of representation alone is pointless and just opens up too much unnecessary racial focus, imo.

BUT I wouldn’t boycott it if they introduced a “black” spin-off version. I would give it a chance and judge it from there. BUT I’d rather more energy go to dignifying the already black superheros we do have…get the ball rolling with Spawn reboot…a Black Panther movie…and Luke Cage.

If there was a black (or asian, or middle eastern, or hispanic, why is the next race ‘after’ white always black?) spiderman, which I think would be stupid for the same reason nobody wants to see a gay spidermen or a fat spiderman, you must know that hollywood would completely butcher this character and offend as many people as possible in a pathetic attempt to be relatable and modern.

They would change things that don’t need to be changed (like his race in the first place, as well as his friends and family, probably Mary Jane, and who knows what else for no reason at all… giving the spider mask a gold grill?). They would make him “talk black”. They would insert “black issues” into the story. It would just be fucking awful.

Does anyone want to see an asian Superman?

How about a middle eastern Wonder Woman?

Call me crazy but if I were black, I would be more offended by these people trying to ‘throw me a bone’ by peppering in some blackness randomly in the entertainment world specifically for the purpose of ‘representing’ me.

I would love to see more original black characters, and more classic black comic book characters being made into good movies… except that holy shit you people are unbearable in the movie theater, god I didn’t pay 9 dollars to hear you laughing and making comments about everything ugh

Unfortunately for you…this^^^ just totally wiped out anything else you stated in that post.

I was totally with you up until this point.

Then I saw this. Admittedly, though, I don’t go to movie theaters and have only been to see 2 movies in the last 10 years or so.

Ok, no one and I mean no one has told me what is it about the Peter Parker character will change if he is black, or Asian. If he grew up in Queens and went to the same school and was a nerd.

One of my nephews grew up in Rockaway Queens and was a science/computer nerd. He was Peter Parker.
We are talking about a character that no were in his story does it mention a race of any kind. The Artist drew him white.

Talking Black, Gold rim mask, Really, I’ve heard this before. How you talk has more to do with where you were raised than what your race is.

And right now I’m only talking about Peter Parker, because some characters there Race was a part of there story. Not Parker.

You were really serious with this “you people” bullshit? I am one of the first people to stand up and tell someone to shut the fuck up if they talk too much during a movie…and strangely, considering I used to go to the movies around the Galleria area, most of the talkers are WHITE around here…so when the fuck did black people get this label across the board?

There is no doubt that you are right.

I also always thought that Iron Man was drawn Latino. He was often drawn with darker skin than others and his mother’s name is Maria…which while not a latin name in itself, I have known way more hispanic Marias than any other ethnic group…yet they made him strictly white in the movies.

I don’t think they could have picked a more perfect actor for Tony Stark than Downey Jr. Isn’t he an alcoholic or some shit, too?

The race of spider-man really wouldn’t bother me. Write a good script then pick the actor that will do the best job. People need to stop with the black and white thinking. I’ve never been, but I have a good idea that walking down almost any street in NY it’s not going to be all one race you’ll see. Any one of those people could be all sciency n shit.

As for the Mary Jane issue if Peter did end up being black. We all know it wouldn’t be a person.

Easy question to answer PX, movies,

^Comedians.

Ok, the black person in question:

Donald Glover

The guy from Community, a writer on 30 rock, and a pretty funny comedian. If you’ve seen him on television, he’s pretty funny. He has the wit to be Spider-man. He has the physical build to be Spider-Man. Now as for the range of acting sad…I’m not sure.

He’s petitioning to audition for it and is a pretty good choice.

I guess I should have added that I don’t care what color he is, make a good movie. I Apologize if my attempt at humour was in bad taste.

I remember reading an article a year or two ago where McFarlane was talking about doing a new Span movie, but having Spawn as an unseen entity. So you would see the aftermath of the havoc, but never actually see Spawn. I hope he’s abandoned that idea. If they can do it right a new Spawn has the potential to blow the roofs off of theatres.

Was the original Spawn any good? I’ve seen it but don’t remember too much about it.

You’re also gonna have to look past the fact that the kid is learning KUNG FU in China…

Agreed. I have seen him do stand up on Comedy Central and he comes across like the kind of guy who got straight A’s in school. His comedy is also relatively “clean” but he is interesting to watch. To tell the truth, if he were white I don’t see how anyone could avoid seeing him as good for that role IF HE CAN ACT…so why should it matter at all?

From his stand up, he is an orphan whose foster parents seemed to raise really well…so his own life mirrors Parker’s.

Hahaha for some reason I wonder what most people think about Darth Vador.
