There are quite a few pics of me floating around on the site. Don’t have anything super recent but here are some shots that I don’t think have been posted.


Some rock we found while camping last year. No clue what it weighed, maybe 200-250ish

My legs are so sore it’s not even funny. Just awesome really. Will have to do some cardio or sled today to try and get them loosened up for this weekend. Will take it easy tomorrow as I have to start highland games practice on Sunday.

8/10 accessory upper

This is big news, I actually completed a full back workout!

Meadows row; 4 warmup sets, 4 work sets

Rack pull superset with bb row; 5 sets of 5

Hammer pulldown machine; 3 warmup sets, 2 work sets that were drop/rest pause

Straight arm pulldowns; 3 sets of 10

My back was trashed from that workout, just insane.

8/11 - Saturday
Rehab, prehab
Standing strict press with football bar; up to 215x1, close miss at 235, drop down, big set with 185
Sled drag; 4 runs of 200ft

8/13 Feeling like ass.

First shot if ghrp6 earlier in the day, sub q, 100mcg. Within 10 minutes I was profusly sweating and starving. Also some pretty noticeable lethargy.

Had nothing in the tank, took it as a deload.

Second ghrp, 100mcg, IM, post workout. No noticeable changes.

8/16 - Lower body

Decent warmup, was solid other than I did not get my tread work in

Squat; set up a box just at parallel, touch and go; 135x10x2, 225x8x2, 275x5, 315x3, 365x1, 405x1, 465x1, 315x20. good day. used wraps on the 465 and set of 20 which killed me.

GM; 135x10x2

Weighted hyperextensions superset with roman chair; 3 sets of 12

Totally spent.

No noticable changes after the last shots of ghrp. I have noticed that I seem to be very tired since I started which is the opposite effect I was hoping it would have. I am thinking about lowering the dose just a bit to see if that makes a difference.

8/17 throwing practice

Did my warm up stuff then spent 30 minutes throwing with light weights to work on technique/form.

8/18 Saturday
Short warmup

Lots of reps with very light weight power snatching, felt about as powerfull as a kitten

Strict press with football bar; top sets were 185x3x2 again, very weak

Sled drag; 4 runs of 300ft

8/19 Actual throwing practice

Mixed bag. Had a couple real good throws (for me) with the braemer stone (29ft). My first throw with the 56 wfd was my best ever, then it went to shit and I couldn’t get it back. Did some more throws with the lighter weight (28lbs?) 2nd time with shief toss, best throw of around 22ft. 56lb WFH, terrible. Had a best throw of around 14ft but none of them cleared, everything going straight up and straight down. Totally wiped out after 4 hours, went and ate my face off.

8/20 - Monday

I either ate something bad or am just getting sick. My back is a wreck and I feel terrible, thinking it’s just due to the bug I have picked up. Will not train today.

8/22 - lower body

Still not feeling the best but had a terrible day and needed to lift some weights. Warmup was really good and my body felt pretty good

Powercleans; mostly did pull, then pc from the hang. I did a lot of reps and work here, no clue really on sets, weights or reps

Front squat; knee felt good but I felt weak. Went up to 275 for 5

Back squat; 275x10, 275x5 - pause at bottom of the hole

Leg Press; 4 sets, all 10-15 reps. Finished with 16 total plates

8/23 - throwing practice

Beat my best mark of the standing put by over a foot from last week, this was good. Bunch of throws with light weight for distance, none of them good. I did manage to almost take out a tin roof on the only free standing structure at the park however, so that was solid.

8/24 Awesome arm workout. First time I’ve done just an arm workout in a LONG time

8/25-8/27 - Vegas trip. Was everything you want Vegas to be. Booze, sex, gambling and debauchary. Wifey and I had a great time.

8/29 - Lower body

Took a long warmup, almost 30 minutes. My knees are KILLING me from all the walking around in Vegas. Discovered last night I think it’s stemming from my back which is not good.

Starting really hurting after this and shut it down. Had some severe pain in both knees last night and this morning. Fuking always something…

9/2 Throwing
Last practice before the comp. They ran it as a mock contest which was good.

Open stone put; I think a top throw of 29" 4 inches, major PR. Would like to throw over 30 at the show

56lb weight for distance; Top throw of 26"4, much more consistant today

28lb weight for distance; Best toss of right around 50ft. Not good.

Heavy hammer; Best throw of 72"2. This was the second best of the day but I feel like I have thrown it 80ft before?

Caber; sucked balls today

Sheif toss; sucked today, I was tired and am still learning this one. I would like to clear 22ft in the show

Note: The day before this workout we had a terrible day of drinking. One of my buddies made up a batch of the best marg’s I’ve ever had. We drank and ate all day at the pool and I did NOT feel great waking up at 7:30 the next day to go throw.

Did not lift on Monday as I felt pretty beat up from Sunday. Getting excited for this weekend.

9-8 Highland Games Comp

I ended up winning 3 events and the overall in the “B” class. Going into the comp I wanted to place top 3 and come out injury free so I accomplished both of those goals and then some. The setting was perfect, the weather was awesome and we had our main group of 5 guys back together competing, it was really just a great day. Everyone had a good day which was nice to see. I am going to list out my numbers below for future reference and also, in case anyone cares.

Heavy weight for distance: 27.2
Light weight for distance: 47.3 - this blows so hard, I’ve got to learn the second spin
Light hammer: 97.3
Braemar Stone: 30.5
Sheaf: 20.0
Weight for height: 13.0

I cleared higher heights on sheaf and wob. Probably 22 on sheaf and 14 or 14.5 on wob. Still, all of these are PR’s which was great. My average score also puts me in the “A” class, so that will be the next step for me. So far, I really enjoy this sport. It seems to beat me up alot less than strongman and I think I could be very competitive at 275-300lbs, which I would not be in strongman.

I did train yesterday but it was nothing major to report. Also, I have kinda tapered off the GHRP-6.
For me, taking it 3 times a day is a pain in the ass and I was missing shots. You can’t eat before or after and it was throwing me off. I may just try two shots a day, haven’t decided yet.

9/15 - Saturday

No real desire to lift today. Spent 30 minutes on my warmup and still felt un-warm. Legs, back, hams were VERY sore from the Wend workout. This is pretty common for me, after working towards a goal (in this case the HG comp) I’m pretty worthless for a couple of weeks after. Need to get a new goal/training cycle laid out so I can keep moving forward.

I have been talking to Josh Bryant again and I think I’m ready to work with him again. But for the rest of today, I’m going to drink beer and eat shitty food.

9/17 - upper body

Zero warmup, had the chance to train with one of my older partners so I had to rush to get to the gym.

Swiss bar bench; warmups, 275 for 4 sets of 5. Drop set, 225x12, 135x10 - this kills me everytime

Shallow incline db press w/fat grips; 60x10x4 - focus on a big squeeze

Decline machine press; 4 sets of 10, I was toast by now

Superset: drag curls with overheard tricep extensions; 70lbs, 4 sets of 10

Good, fast workout. Was in and out in about an hour which was nice.

9/20 - Lower body

A 5 minute warmup. Had no desire to do it today and just wanted to start lifting.

Dead squats; lots of warmup sets, 275x8, 315x6, 365x3, 385x3x2

Oly squats; 275x10x3

Squatting felt good today, no idea why. I CRUSHED the first rep of 385 on my second set, then the next two sucked donkey dick. Still, that is more good progress for me. The oly squats were good as well, probably could have used a working weight of 315 but this good for today.

GHR superset with GHR situps; 3 sets of 10 each one. This is tougher than it looks, try it sometime.

Spent 20 minutes foam rolling and stretching out. Really solid leg workout.

Not a whole lot to report, just logging sessions right now. I did hit an easy 405 dead squat last week, then got pinned by 425. Stupid. Back felt a bit dodgy so I am going to take a week off from squatting.

Did some light power cleans last night (3 singles at 120kg) then 3 sets of 5 at 375 on DL.

Gearing up for something big right now. Training laid out by Josh Bryant, diet and legal supps by John Meadows. Should be fun.
