Just rubbing bellies with a fellow fat body.
two things, to say want2belean hasnt put on some size is stoopid. He’s a lean and muscular dude.
Second, Frank is the man. I would pay to watch the shit he puts up.

yep and proud of it!
First post on site, couple things:
Frank- Video is entertaining as always, crazy how you can psych yourself into eating ~1k cals per meal without throwing up, I have trouble eating 600 without gagging/spending an hour eating it, so I have to drink a lot of my calories via milk, pb, oats, etc. I think you should keep bulking Frank, then get into contest shape so you can play violin during free-posing.
Anyway, I don’t have much, really any, formal education on nutrition/biology/physiology, but I’ll give my perspective on bulking based on my own personal experience.
As far as my body goes, my maintenance calories are about 2k. If I eat 3k I actually lose weight, and cannot recover in between workouts. 3k worked getting me from 150lbs-170lbs, but I have to eat 4k-4500cals a day now just to continue strength gains, I would assume due to my metabolism and training schedule. Also, I’ve stayed at roughly 10% BF throughout this 25lb gain, my goal is to compete in BB within a few years, so I’m going to stay on it, then cut to prep for competition when the time comes.

There isn’t an optimal point. There are diminishing returns to eating more, but there isn’t an upper limit. For example the first 1000 calories excess might add 1lb of muscle the next 1000 might add 0.5lbs. The 1000 above that will add say 0.3lbs. But it’s still adding. (Pulled those numbers out of my arse just to illustrate the point)
That’s prof X’s point, he’d rather carry on eating to gain the muscle than limit himself. Seems perfectly reasonable. The extra muscle is worth more to him than adding some fat for a while.
If you don’t want to add the fat then you’re limiting your muscle growth by eating less for the sake of gaining less fat. But that’s your choice.
Really don’t see what all the fuss is about.
So, you need to add fat in order to gain muscle? Is that what is believed to be true. Then how do you explain the many people i know, and myself included, that have not only gained size and not gained any fat, but have lost fat.
I didn’t say you need to add fat to gain muscle. I said it would limit muscle growth if you try to limit fat gain.
So yeah you could add 6lbs of muscle and lose 4lbs of fat (rough numbers), but if you ate more you could have added 8lbs of muscle and lost 1lbs of fat, you could have eaten more still and gained 9 lbs of muscle and added 3lbs of fat.
The point is eating more means more muscle, and more fat (or less fat loss if you want to look at it that way). Whether you are willing to give up muscle gains to avoid the fat gain (or less fat loss) is your preference.
Your muscles require a certain amount of calories in order to grow right? Any amount over that, will be stored as fat. So, how is eating those extra calories, that are simply stored as fat, helping you gain more muscle? That just isn’t logical. isn’t that like filling a cup of water, it fills up till it hits the top. you can’t add anymore water to it, it will just spill over. Isn’t that the same thing. adding more water will not fill the glass up anymore…
I live in Taipei, Taiwan and I know where that 7-11 is that he had his post-workout meal.
I will go there and camp out…waiting.
But if you see me next to Frank and then the “Bulking is Bad” nutbars will be able to use me as evidence to support their side.
Better I stay home I guess.
Though I 'd love to meet up with Frank and go to a few restaurants. It would certainly make an interesting video.
But no night market! Well, I can eat some of that, but draw the line at chicken uterus on a stick.
Frank can you start a Q/A in the Get a Life forum?
Entertaining video. A pity about the pious fucks who scribbled all over the thread.
Full props Frank, good luck with your goals ![]()

It would be fun if we can make a training video sometime in the future and hit the night market straight afterwards.
What do you eat in Taiwan man?
night market is the heaven for the cheap and dirty bulkers.

am i the only one who wishes he could eat like that…even for just a month.

and since when does low calories = longevity. take that shit to bb.com
That is based on a famous study performed on mice. Damn your ignorant…
Frank, out of curiosity, is English your mother tongue?

Yep, but what has been said a million times, is that you can’t find out how big that glass is. So just pour enough water in to make sure it’s full.

I’d feel very shy to train with you…I can’t DB shoulder press 100s and I outweigh you by an embarrassing amount.
I will climb Taipei 101 next month, that’s the coolest thing I’ll be doing.
I eat street food for breakfast, and haven’t been in a night market for a long time. I go to hotpots and eat a lot. usually too much ice cream.
My girlfriend is a great cook and makes all kinds of great food.

What about the 8500 cals bulking diet toilet video. That one’s gotta be good to watch. You can superset isometric holds with the press and clean.

The whole idea of the “night market” is fascinating, like something out of scifi, like the Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi (sp?).
Did you say “you are Papua New Guinea” in the lsd deadlift section? HaHaHaHa! holy crap that’s funny. I’m a fan man, keep going.
