80's Toy Thread

All that talk about Transformers the movie has brought back some great memories. Being 31, I was fortunate enough to be a kid in the 80’s. The greatest toys were made back then.

  1. MASK Boulder playset
  2. Crystar-That’s an hidden gem!
  3. Fisher Price Adventure series-Greatet toys ever made
  4. GoBots-Fuck you Transformers
  5. GI Joe Aircraft carrier-I never had it. I’m still pissed to this day!!
  6. Micronauts-Late 70’s, but still cool…some glowed in the dark
  7. Starriors-Another hidden gem. The big snake play set ruled.

I could go on and on!!

I never had it either, but being so big into GI Joe, I always wanted it. I’m sure it’s a product youthful exaggeration, but I remember it being like six feet long.

Voltron
Castle Greyskull from he man
Those pink wrestling figurines
Any Gi Joe stuff
How bout a bicycle- all I see is kids riding those razor scooters. I don’t think bikes are as popular today

Damn, when I was a kid, all I had was a rock & a stick. Until the stick broke.

You forgot about Voltron toys! The 15" steel and plastic Voltron with the sword, detachable and articulated lions with the shooting heads was AWESOME.

I’d still have it if the plastic hadn’t become brittle and just disintegrated.

  1. Big Trak
  2. Intellivision
  3. TRS-80 color computer
  1. How could I have forgot - Anything Star Wars

You wouldnt believe how many people have forgot about MASK I loved the show, hell I still remember the theme song.

I agree with everything that’s already been written, especially Voltron and Castle Greyskull but what about Transformers (the die-cast metal ones)
or Silverhawks or THUNDER THUNDER Thunder Cats HOO!

Star Wars toys, I had a shit load of these.

Legos. Legos were the SHIT!!!

I never had this either and really REALLY wanted it.

I almost had the space shuttle set. I remember the day… I had it on layaway at some big toy store and was paying on it with allowance. All of the sudden, I decided I was too old to play with toys (hey, I was in 6th grade or something). I reluctantly went and closed my account on it. I have no idea to this day what I bought instead. Probably Metallica CD’s (er, tapes, as it were).

Really wish I would just stuck it out and got it. But I was too worried what me friends thought. damn peer pressure.

This was my most coveted 80’s toy.

Damn. Forgot Legos. They never got old. They still have some of the most creative sets.

Ahhh…one of my favorites!!

Star Wars toys, He-Man toys, C64.

You had a rock? Lucky bastard!

Zoids were fun as well.

By the way, great idea for a thread.

Back off, bunny. Legos belong in the sixties with me! My feet still hurt thinking of them.

Storm Shadow was badass. My favorite was the Snake Eyes with his dog Timber.

The boardgame Crossbows and Catapults.

The Dungeons and Dragons playset was pretty cool
