Agreed. The numbers are going up due to testing. In a way that’s a good thing, as the death rate remains small, compared to the number of potential cases. I would not be surprised if five times the number that has been reported has been infected.
I still think I may have gotten it eight weeks ago. I was in Western Washington at the time. I got very sick for two weeks. Looking back I had all the symptoms. I didn’t go to the doctor, however, and just stayed home from work a few days.
If this virus threat lasts through June I’ll try to buy plates and a good rack when they become available again. I could then deadlift and squat better than my regular gym’s facilites. We’ll see.
I’m 73 been training for almost 60 years for football, hockey, powerlifting and now bodybuilding. No reason to stop! Lifts not as impressive as they were and limited by some injuries due to past stupidity! I agree that you can make progress or at least stop regression if you train intelligently well into old age.
I think it’s just good to get out in fresh air. I found training at home has it’s own challenges, but I am thankful I am able to do so. Hopefully things are near or over the apex for you guys down there. I have a lot of LE friends in NOLA who I keep up with.
Yeah, 72 going on 46. Going kicking and screaming into old age; I honestly feel about 58 - 60.
I’ve worked out pretty steadily since I was 21. I’ve had my share of ailments over the years but they passed eventually and I’ve always resumed lifting. I can’t lift the poundages of earlier years, but lifting helps maintain my good attitude about life. I’m still a practicing “in the trenches” attorney.
I’m pretty much the same. I’m 67 and feel more like 55 or so. Been lifting since I was 25 and dealt with many, many setbacks like you but have kept it up. I don’t feel I look anywhere near 67 either. Runs in the family. My dad lived till he was 95 and my mom 92 and both looked at least 10 yrs younger. Sister and brothers the same. My skin doesn’t look old and I don’t have wrinkles. I’ve got good genes in the aging dept but unfortunately not in the muscle building dept.
35 lb kettlebell 3 x 15 w/each arm
50 lb kettlebell 4 x 15 using both arms
50 lb sandbag carry l00 feet or so. (felt much heavier than comparable kettlebell)
pullup bar hangs and swings (getting back into pullups)
1"band lat pulldowns 3 x 10
1.5" band curls 3 x 10
later 50 pushups under l minute
Bands produced surprising pump. About 20 minutes (w/o later pushups); felt like I sweated about a pint.
35 lb kettlebell 4 x 25
50 lb kettlebell 4 x 25
various width bands for side delt raises 4 x 10
same, front delt raises 4 x 10
50 lb sandbag carry for 100 feet
50 pushups, about 1 minute
Picked up one 110 lb farmer’s walk bar and walked for about 50 feet.
We’ve divided the practice so that I do mornings and law partner does afternoons with no one else allowed into the building. Paralegal works remotely and does everything but hand me papers. I even did a will over the phone today. New normal.
