I’ve been having problems with back squats because my shoulders hurt too much. I can’t bend my arms that far back to hold the bar. Like you I think I just need to keep working on stretching.
I’m going to keep stretching, if for no other reason than to avoid front and zercher squats.
Zerchers are ok, but front squats just don’t feel right no matter what arm position.
3/12
leg press 1 x 35 & 15 @ 135, 2 x 25 @ 225
machine shoulder press 3 x 10 @ 80, 95, 110
angled machine press 3 x 10 @ 90, 90, 110
machine lateral raises 3 x 10 @ 75, 80
machine overhead pulls 2 x 10 @ 140, 230. then realized it’s a back exercise
Overslept, so 5:45 am workout today. More older guys in gym.
Thanks. I like it. I’ll give it a shot.
I’ll try these stretches as well. Never thought I had tight pecs.
3/13
dumbbell slight incline bench 3 x 10 @ 45, 60, 65
machine (standing) regular cable flyes 3 x 10 at about 120
same, low cable flyes
hammer strength machine upper chest press 3 x 10 @ 90, 110, 110
hammer strength machine lower chest press 3 x 10 @ 180, 200,200
Must remember to never again do chest at end of week. Benching weight felt enormous.
I thought the stretches worked well. I just need to stay with them.

Almost empty gym at 5 am. Usually full. 70+ attendant said they’d stay open until someone tested positive or health board closes them. I’m debating not going back for awhile since all schools and colleges in state have closed for at least 3 weeks. No cases reported yet in our area, but New Orleans area has 75 with 2 deaths and is 60 miles away. Haven’t decided if my old, in remission myositis condition 18 years ago constitutes an underlying condition. Likely not.
dumbbell rows 3 x 10 @ 30, 50, 85
barbell rows (palms forward) 3 x 10 @ 135, 185, 185
close grip cable pulldowns 3 x 10 @ 120, 140, 160
machine rows 3 x 10 @ 225, 315, 315
Enough. Washed hands during/after workout.
Gym closed indefinitely.
Guess it’s time to use my garage “almost” gym’s fancy pullup bar, farmer’s walks, heavy kettlebells.
We’ll see.
We just need to get inventive.

Kettlebell 35 lb swings 3 x 20 (with both arms); 3 x 10 (single arm, each side). First time in over a year using a kettlebell; ones in garage are “virgin”.
Surprisingly good upper body pump. Amazon bands arrive tomorrow for reacquaintance with pullup bar. Hopefully farmer’s walks today (w/straps); only have 35 lb free weights for that. I’ve decided to go to office early, then go home around l0:30 am and do garage workout.
Just got bands as I was leaving office. Iron infidel makes them and they seem much better than any I’ve ever seen. Will try them tomorrow.
Good luck. I’m already getting bored, so I am going to work in some handstand push-ups, like the old days.
Crippler, you could do a whole lot worse than handstand pushups. With 410 lbs of weights you should do fine. Maybe put in a tv.
3/18’s workout
50 pushups under a minute
two handed one kettlebell swings 3 x 10 @ 35, 1 x1 @ 50
one handed kettlebell swings 3 x 10 @ 35 w/each hand
Bands will take some getting used to. Have to adjust steps to pullup bar for incorporating bands.
3/19
50 pushups under a minute
Tried to do handstand but couldn’t get into position. I’m weak.
Keep at it
Wish I were your age.

No workout. I heard from a colleague that a 40 something lawyer in New Orleans who worked out regularly and was in above average shape thought he had flu, so did ER doctor a week ago. He had the virus then and he’s now in doctor induced coma in hospital.
A lot of us locally think the New Orleans infections are the result of Mardi Gras a few weeks ago.
I had Covid 19 training today at work. They said the exact same thing. Luckily most people only get minor symptoms. Let’s pray it winds down in a few weeks. I’m not sure how much longer, as a nation, we can hold out.
Social distancing and hand washing does make a huge difference in disease transmission.
Only touch what is absolutely necessary.
In my opinion ( everyone has one) don’t be mislead by increase number of cases, just more tests being done. It’s when the number of positive per tests administered goes down.
As the curve flattens out , it will go on longer , so they say.
I believe the next steps will be more strategic and less broad. No shocking news with that.
I’ve been to NOLA several times. It’s a beautiful city with an unbelievable great WW 2 museum. The crowds on the street drinking, in close proximity has to be a huge risk factor. Like crowded public transportation.
God bless us all to stay well.
