Consider yourself lucky to have that much mass on that frame. I lived at an Olympic Training Center, worked in the weight room as an intern, ate my ass off (good food too), lifted 2-4 hours a day (strength program with lots of rest), and peaked at 247. I trimmed back down to 231 with 8% body fat. Haven’t touched those numbers since.
It should be noted that I decided I wanted to play college basketball and walked on to a Division II team after graduating from Wichita State. I hadn’t played serious ball in 4 years. I traded in my quest for mass for obvious reasons. It hurt my knees to run sprints at 240lbs. Since then all my pursuits have ended in getting fatter with minimal strength gains so I just try to stay athletic.
Just want to point out. Guy that started thread has 4 posts in this thread of 200+. You know hes at his computer like… I’m going to fuck with these guys.
@Yogi1 reporting back. Looked outside and it’s snowing real hard. I’m an hour round trip from the gym. So, I borrowed a sporting goods belt from some guy (those tapered, double pronged things).
Excuses, excuses. Long story short, missed 600 3 times. Twice below the knee, once above.
Please make ambiguous comments that I take personally before my competition in March, okay?
Seems to me though that the one’s who’ve done it are the one’s who’re claiming it can be done by most.
I think a more interesting question would be a two-parter: Who here has seriously attempted to deadlift 600 pounds and failed to do so? What pull did you end up with at what bodyweight?
I have an odd mixture of emotion. Part of me finds it hilarious that a stranger on the internet can trigger me so easily, the other part feels like striking inanimate objects repetitively.
May try to pull 6 sumo tomorrow morning. If that goes bad, then Friday or Saturday I’m going to pull 550 on a trap bar for a stupid amount of reps.
Yeah he totally blew away my thread of , greatest feats of strength, which i started as i wanted to see some sic videos of crazy lifts, and athletic events that some body at a high level made everyone look foolish.
It’s the elevated height on the trap bar. Also even with the low handles i can wedge my body under the weight in this funky way that I haven’t figured out on a straight bar. I have pulled 765 from pins a couple inches below the knee. I haven’t really deadlifted regularly and heavy since hurting my back a few years ago with a stupid lift attempt. Maybe I’ll go push/pull for my next meet, I think with some practice and a year or two of focus I could total 1100.
