5x5 WORK

OMG Steve!!! He’s got so big!!! SSSOOO CUTE!!! Just want to kiss those cheeks!!!

That’s a cute grandbaby, bro. When does he start squatting?
I have him on the Marinovich plan right now, stretching for a couple of hours everyday.

CARDIO made enjoyable

Hit the basketball court for 30 minutes of full court layups, jumpshots and dribbling drills, kept the heart rate up, got a good sweat and the time went by quickly.

Boy, I’m gone for a couple of weeks and all these people join. Hi, Led. Got some great numbers there. And the kid is adorable!

I like those squat numbers…nice job!

I’ll give ya 20 bucks for the baby…would of offered 50, but by the shirt he’s wearing, I can see he’s going to need some work.

THanks Cav…yeah I just stumbled through the door and thought I would stay.

Thanks grey…no question he needs some work, but he sure is fun to hang with, maybe cause we’re close to the same level

Thats a great idea for non-boring cardio! Great work man!

Please tell me he is not a Gordon fan…
x2 LOL.

Question on your 5x5 when do you switch to the 3x3’s -cuz usually that happens in week 5 if following a Bill Starr program? Or could you pm me the link if it is an article please.

Good solid work in here Led.

Ps: You buy the MSM yet?

That would be the advanced version, the Starr 5x5 Intermediate is linear progress staright through with sets of 5, there is a heavy set of 3 on fridays which you do 5 reps of on the ensuing monday. Also on Friday there is a back off set of 8 reps.

the advanced pendlay starr version is below

Week 5 day 2 5x5 DEAD DAY
Also the day where I do 4 sets of 5 on the lifts.
Up @ 4:45 and off to the races.
Warmed up and stretched and hit the weights.

Squat: 275/ 315/ 355/ 355

Incline Bench: 125/ 145/ 160/ 170

Dead: 250/ 290/ 325/ 355

MP: 115/ 130/ 145/ 150

Doesn’t look like a whole lot but it was definitely taxing.

Good work Led.

You’re kidding right?? lol!!! Anytime I see 355 it looks like alot!! Have a great day Steve!!

Great work and great numbers. It’s good to see another Oklahoman on here.

Thanks Liss, I just meant set wise, and compared to some of the beasts on here it isn’t so much.
Thanks Strick, I thought the same thing when I saw you hailed from OK.

Complete day of rest tosay, slept in 'till 6:30. Still feeling Tuesdays running and Wednesdays work.

Knee wrap Kid–this is a college age kid who usually struts when I’m halfway through the workout. The first thing he does is sit on a bench and wrap the knees up tight and begins to workout. The first time I saw him come in a few weeks ago I thought, “this kid must be going big time on the squat.” He then loaded 200 lbs on the BodySolid squat machine and banged out 10 reps, then he loaded 155 on the squat bar and banged out 10 reps. He wore the wraps through the benching, curls, lunges… Am I missing something here? I thought the wraps were for the BIGGEST squats and that was it…kids these days.

Hmmm… Knee pads?

I had to quit watching the kids… it terrifies me… literally… we have a high school gym class as resolutioners… their coach and about thirty kids that come in about 5:30 or so… I should video it sometime…

No Rick, knee wraps…big time powerlifting style…or not so much.

Week 5 complete

Warmed up with goblet squats, rows, benches and light db work for shoulders. Stretched out, more light squats and on to the work. Everything is for reps of 5 unless noted.

Squat: 270/ 315/ 355/ 395/ 425x3/ 355x8

Bench: 160/ 185/ 210/ 235/ 260x3/ 210x8

Bent Row: 185/ 215/ 245/ 275/ 295x3/ 245x8

BB curl: 85/ 90/ 95/ 100/ 105

Strt bar pushdown: 175/ 180/ 190/ 195/ 200

Weighted dips: +25x12/ +25x8

WORE OUT!

Everything went good, my right knee bothered me on the heavy end of the squats,(they say it’s arthritis). I still haven’t bought the MSM yet, plan on getting that this weekend. Knee wraps for over this weight squatting…bad idea? I don’t own a pair and have never used them.

^ Maybe just start with the sleeves would be my suggestions.

How often are you squatting heavy?

For the next 7 weeks it will be twice a week over 400 lbs.

I would get these.

Nice work. Definitely banging on the squats. 425x3 is a great set.

I’ll echo what has been said. The sleeves definitely made my knees feel better.
