But what was impressive was the double overhand grip. Thats a shitload of weight to hold onto.

I did hook grip just so you know, lol.

Im pretty sure that was double overhand. A hook grip is where one of your palms is facing you, gripping the bar, and the other palm is away from you, gripping the bar.
That’s a mixed grip. A hook grip is where you “pin” the thumb against the bar with the forefingers. It’s used alot by olympic lifters.

i only put that on the youtube to let everyone know i wasn’t as fresh as possible. lol.

Just to clarify, that was NOT me.

It’s Andrew Hollenbeck. Pretty sure he was the 2007 IPF subjunior world champ at 165. Absolutely incredible lifter who’s just build perfectly for the sport. Sublime form in every lift too!

Yeah, im so jealous of this kid. Same age, same weightclass, FREAKISH WEIGHTS. Not sure if he got it yet but I saw a CLOSE miss on a 400+ bench by him, and theres another one, Maliek Derstine(sp) totaling the same shit with age and weight…sucks dude lol
I saw Derstine lift a couple years ago and that kid was a total freak! Traps like an animal, pulled and squatted ~600. Didn’t know if he was still at it.

well here is my recent 620 little sloppy but a little babypowder and slick paints im sure will fix that

and finally 300 bench: 300 bench - YouTube

I’m 6’4" 215-220 btw

Hulk how long have you been deadlifting?

for about 3-4 years, why do you ask?

shit man you look skinny and not even strong yet your deadlift 620. damn nice man.
some people are just good deadlifters man, and your one of them. keep it up.

you think 300 bench is real strong, strong, ok, or weak?

my back muscle are a little bit big though (just saying, those are the major movers)

btw i was 285 and lost 65 to run faster and stuff for basketball I got little bit stronger but squat sucks, I might go out tonight and try 315 for reps or something like that, right now im watching 2009 nba draft on espn.

yeah i usually pull max attempts with straps but I can go mixed or hook at any time. I know your just busting my balls though LOL

LOL yeah hows the draft goin on espn.

300 bench is okay. I mean your only 17 years old, I benched 300 when i was17 also. I actually did 325 in a raw powerlifting comp. in highschool and weighed in around 193. but I have a shitty build for deadlifting. My arms are actually good for my height (5’9) but just crappy mecahins for the lift.

My build is much better for squatting. And well I can sumo deadlift quite a bit more than a conv. deadlift…but my sumo i don’t go out wide…I use the same stance you use for your 601 deadlift. So modified stance.

Also regarding the bench, you are tall (6’3) so it’s much harder for a tall guy like you to bench big weights…but can definaetly still be done and many have done it. I’m sure as you progress you’ll probably gain a bit more weight and eventually be benching 405. As long as you train hard, which I’m sure your goin to.
What’s your squat at?

I’ll give you some of my squat and bench strength for 50lbs of conventional deadlift, and 2 inches of your height. lol

OO i see, 325 @ 193 is over 1.5xbodyweight. My squat is somewhere between 365-405 I am not sure. About that trade…idk it would be fun for a week or two but then i would want to be tall again Lol
