All bars weigh 45 pounds. I don’t care what kind of bar it is, or what it “really” weighs, it’s 45 pounds. It makes it easier for me to add.

Haha so true. I’ve used plate loaded machines like hammer strength stuff a few times recently, and I always include a 20kg bar when I’m adding up the weight used. It was only after I thought about it that I realised I was being silly!
Plate loaded machines can really mess with your mind. But yea, every bar weighs 45 pounds.

thanks douche.

Right, I have a 20kg ivanko bar. It whips a lot. When you squat big, it feels like the bar is just wings on your back and you’re flapping your wings to take off!
(Well, not that bad, but its a nice visual)[/quote]
thats sick, i cant wait till i move serious weight and i get that. i feel it a bit on deads now, but i want that on squats. just the RAARHGG launching hte weight up so fast it bounces…
It actually kinda sucks, and can really throw off your set-up if it’s real bad. Maybe one day I’ll find a gym with a decently built squat bar.

If you count every bar as 45 pounds, it can help you get stronger. If you treat all the weights the same then you can lift more weight with out having to work through any mental blocks. It’s a way you can hit PRs at meets too. But if you wanna go be a message board tough guy then by all means go for it. I’m gonna work on getting strong(er).

I agree. I’ve shook the crappy generic bars in my commercial gym apart a couple of times when I’ve had to squat there.

You’re right I still treat the bar as a 45 pounder.
