I meant on the amateur level.

Some have max weight

how does your back not snap from doing this?
incredible back strenght by building up to such a heavy weight.

Serge was the Man- and not in the minority-oppressing sense of the word either. That is one thing that sucks about modern weightlifting- the elimination of the press.

Fuck me. Unbelievable.

I can’t believe how fast that press was. I keep watching it over and over and it doesn’t seem like he’s even trying. Damn. Hell, for that matter the clean looked easy too.

Glad to see so many people who also are blown away by Reding as I always was. And yeah, I knew about Patera, thanks Galvatron. Was pissed went he went into wrestling.

BTW, another amazing lifter I admired in those days was a Russian OL named Pavel Pervushin. He only weighed about 240, but was pure muscle, and snatched 392 and clean and jerked over 500 (from memory, give or take). I can't find any video of the guy, if anybody can, it would be real cool. Trust me, he was a stud, but the story was he destroyed a shoulder and was done. Doc

There’s a few masters lifters at my old gym who preach this and never hesitate to complain about the change. They want the split snatch to be resurrected too.

You mean the you can’t split snatch in a real comp? Isn’t it optional?

Plenty of older lifters split snatch/clean. It’s the only way some of them can get under the bar. Perfectly legal, but less efficient because you have to pull the bar higher.

I thought when I saw Clean and Press for 500 that it was a misprint or a typo. What’s the world record for a Military Press? Is that it?

Fucking Wow!

I think the record ended with Alexeyev doing a 236.5kg lift.

^ Old post but I still agree 100%!

Breathtaking

Damn…just…damn! That’s all I can say.

It’s absurd how effortless he made that look.

Wow…I just came thrice

Can anyone here other than Dr. PowerClean name the third man who officially pressed over 500lbs? Bonus points if you know the exact weight.

Chuck Norris.
All these lifts are non-Chuck Norris division.

Still, that was crazy. I have no idea how someone can do that.

The most impressive lift ever. And still some people can´t appreciate it, because they don`t want to admit weightlifters are strong so they make up excuses why this lift is possible.

What idiot doesn’t think weightlifters are strong?

Well, some powerlifters for example. Some people who have never tried it but have heard that technique is important so they think it´s all you need.
