Hey guys, aiming for mens BB at the 165 weight class
current weight 169
height 5’7
(sorry for the low quality pics, and missing back shot)
Been dieting since mid december, starting at 23-2400 kcals/day (too low) increased to 28-2900kcal (too high) and settled on about 25-2700 kcals.
Diet began as 5 high carb/protein days and 2 no carb days a week but eventually settled on medium carb (200-250g/day) centered around workout with 1 recarb day a week(3000kcal 125g protein and rest carbs)
most pictures were taken after a mini-peak (high water consumption day priot, no water consumption day of /w 3 15 minute trips to sauna, and a little below halfway through my refeed only 250g carbs so far)
Oatmeal
avocado
spinach (bagged)
chicken
cinnamon raisin ezekiel break
sweet potato
broccoli
small red beans (cooked into stew with beef onions and jalp approx 130 kcal/cooked cup)
almond butter
whey protein (no added sugar/fat)
blue berries raspberries
TONS of splenda / cinnamon
table sugar (in coffee and oatmeal in lieu of splenda on refeed days)
-misc snack/condiments-
94% fat free popcorn
french onion soup broth 20 cal/serving
walden farms calorie free choco sauce (makes a great pudding with protein powder, almond butter, or both)
15 cal sugar free bullet popsicles
mezetta’s mediterreanean olive spread (omg this stuff is so fucking good)
maple farms sesame ginger dressing (this stuff too)
arctic zero 150 cal pint dairy/fat free ice cream cookies and cream (really good with walden farms and splenda but 5+ dollars per pint, ouch)
the quantity and timing of the macros varied, and I made some adjustments like pitching the broccoli (too gassy) the fruit (fructose isnt filling, no effect on leptin levels either but sure is tasty)
Yeah, while looking at various ‘pieces’ of your physique conveys a good level of conditioning for 5 weeks out, I think we’d really need a full body mandatory pose to accurately gauge how you’re coming into the contest.
Ok yeah I’ll drop those, I also have a large tattoo on my back. I’ll post some more pictures after my next recarb, ill try to work either my laptop video or my old camera to get the compulsory poses.
Ok guys so here is a video of me running through the compulsory poses.
Things I’ve really been working on is practicing the poses and trying to figure out how to peak properly, how much water I can cut, carbs I can handle etc.
One thing that had me worried is that I was planning on having to deplete carbs and cut water to slide to the 165 at a night time weigh in, then carb up all at once before the AM prejudge, but considering today I was able to cut nearly 5 pounds of water with one unpleasant aggregate hour in the sauna, I may not have to fret about it, and just drop water like normal before the nightly weigh in.
My condition is a little off in the video, I felt flat in those pictures I took last time so I tried to take in more carbs before I took this, as well as some (too much) sodium. Also finished working out about 40 mins prior and all my blood went away. Not to mention my tan coulda been better, I’m heading to get sprayed right after I post this.
Knowing that I may not need to carb up suddenly, I may try this week to deplete, then carb up gradually over like 3 or 4 days during peri-post workouts while slowly dropping sodium, start cutting water 2 days instead of one with the plan of eating something sugary/fatty/salty (maybe a cheeseburger or candy bar) for a good pump right before its showtime, however any advice on preferred peaking protocols would be welcome, or pre-show tips, tricks, etc.
That being said the lighting is piss poor and doesnt really showcase any cuts or vascularity, but at least it will give you guys an idea of proportion. Also the audio is jacked up, all you can hear is me forcibly exhale. Not to mention I don’t have my trunks yet so I just hiked my undies up my ass.
Any advice welcome
Edit: F*** i just realized I forgot the front lat spread, its actually one of my better ones, I’ll post it next week
heres another video from the following morning, the lighting is a little better, the carb spillover subsided a bit and my tan is better. I realize I need to work on my posing, such as flexing more at the hip during side poses to showcase hamstrings, twisting just right, arm elevation on symmetry poses and also staying tight during transitions. Im practicing everyday.
Slight derail here: do you find that the rings get caught on shit a lot? I only ask because mine are also pierced (barbells) and seem to get caught more than I anticipated they would when I got them pierced. If rings aren’t so bad, I may switch it up.
