On the Boring But Big assistance, do you do the main lift and then the main lift again for 5x10? Or do you, say squat, and then deadlift 5x10?
Either way is acceptable.

Okay because I have read both.
I did the main lift first then the 5x10. I changed to the 531 plan that included three different assistance exercises at the end of the big lift. I like it a lot better than BBB.
I generally like to do the DL 5x10 on the squat day and vice versa. I feel dividing the form work to two days a week is good for technique.

This. Plus, you won’t get as bored.

Another BBB question! Month 1: 50% of TM for your 5x10 sets, etc etc for months 2 and 3…do you up your TM by 5 lbs for upper body and 10 lbs for lower body or just keep the same TM and up the percentage?
I am more interested in strength than hypertrophy. Have any of you powerlifters used this template with good success? I ask because it is usually advertised as a bodyduilding type program in the things I have read. I does seem like a really good way to get in more squat volume though…
If the things you have read have advertised 5/3/1 as a bodybuilding program, stop reading those things, because they are stupid.

Oops… I didn’t mean 5/3/1 in general I meant the BBB template specifically. I recently transitioned from SS to 5/3/1 and am trying to find the best way to incorporate extra squatting volume into 5/3/1 since I feel like this is where I need the most work. I just was curious if doing sets of 10 was good for strength development because I have never really done above 5 and 10 is considered to be in the hypertrophy range.

Move TM up every month (5/10)…
You guys know there is a 5/3/1 Q&A thread, right?

BBB is just assistance work. The assistance work is there to make your primary lifts stronger, so in that way they WILL make you stronger.
You gotta get this “hypertrophy range/strength range” stuff out of your head here.

BBB will get you plenty strong, do not worry.
Another option is to use the full body set up (Wendler wrote an article on it for this site).
