5/3/1 - Makin' the Reaper Wait

I’m going to hit the 24 fitness tomorrow and do some of my ugly stuff.

  1. because I’m an attention whore and
  2. because those folks need an example of ugly lifting.
  3. Rates are really good right now and I may join.

Your latest thread title reminds me of one of my favorite drummers-- Bernard “Pretty” Purdie:

Everybody ought to have a little air in their high hat!

I prefer more to love. Doubt if you get to fat status, I’d love to give you this 15 lbs i have to shed before Feb.

And I’d love to be able to take it from you. Eating is the most boring activity I can think of…

unless one is starving, of course.

No membership for me there at 23 hour Fit. Too hard to stay focused.

Damn, that’s a hell of a session, Tony!

It was a nice volume session for sure. But since I kept the intensity down except for a couple of things I feel ready to do some more reasonable training tomorrow. Thought I’d be sore but I’m not so much.

I’m foregoing the 500 sumo I had planned and doing 475 for three singles instead and then deficit conventional deads.

Overhead pin press I’m bringing down to 255 or 260, get two or three singles and may follow with some full range dumbell presses for reps.

We’ll see how that feels instead of maxing out.

Never fail to inspire, tony.

Now, what could be distracting there? Really…I’ve never been to one.

They have so much equipment that I tend to get too excited and try it all out. The 2010 resolutioners are in right now as well so accessing things I need to use (as opposed to wanting to use) is problematic. Plus the eye candy.

Better to train at home or at my funky old folks gym.

Easy there Albino…some of us make resolutions too.

And eye candies are good, something else to blame for a missed lift other than “my frame”

Just right on the lower body work. Got a yen to do clean and presses. Felt invigorated on this workout rather than tired out.

On pin presses I usually take a wider grip with my pinkies on the power rings. I decided that moving to my normal grip might carry over better to a full range attempt. I lose poundage on the bar, but it does good things for the upper mid back traps and triceps.

385 on DDLs was pretty fast. I’m going to 405 next time. If a 6 inch box doesn’t get me off the floor fast what else is going work? I know, I know - bands.

Excellent work going on here DCA. The deads are just flat out impressive dude.

If only I’d known sooner the one solution to everything…

Thanks, but I expect Meat is gonna rip me one when he sees my sumo vid.

Great lifting Tony. Are you wide sumo or semi-sumo?(I can’t see the video here at work) I’ve found a semi-sumo works best for me. I find workingout at home to have many less distractions as well.

Wide sumo. Semi-sumo might as well be conventional for me. I’m afraid to put my feet any wider because I can drop the bar on my toes. I could easily place my feet past where the plates start and have considered loading 25’s as the first plates with 45’s thereafter just to try it out.

I found the wider stance made my hips and knees ache. Thanks
