400 Meter Runs for Whatever

Yea 400’s will drop your body fat by alot. For instance instead of saying a 400m workout is a 400m workout where you run 400s. You can try some stuff like

4x300m with 5 minutes rest in between
5 minutes rest is pretty much full recovery for a practice workout session. You can do other stuff such as
10x200 in 38 seconds since your untrained with 2 minutes rest in between each one. [/quote]

38 seconds is a pretty slow 200m, even for 10 of them… i guess that depends on how fast you are though, if your fastest 200m is 35 sevonds then 38 is not a bad idea…for the 400m, if you have a goal time heres a killer workout, but you’ll need a partner:

take your goal time (say 60sec) and start at the starting line, run the 400 as fast as you can, wherever you are at on the track in 60 seconds your partner marks with something (a cone, piece of tape, shoe, w/e) but you still finish the 400m as fast as you can, so you might be 20m back from the finish at 60 sec…and run the whole 400 in like 62, rest 10 min and run another one, you should try and match your first performance. each week try and get closer to the finish line until you’re running the whole 400 in your goal time.

have fun…

What is an average time in the 400 to consider satisfactory for these 400 meter sprints, like 70 seconds per sprint? Because i still want it to be considered a sprint and not a jog…thanks

the 400 is WAY to long IMO for doing sprints. Its almost boderlining on a aerobic activity because of the distance.

Im big into sprinting, and I find that intervals anywhere from 10 - 100 meters best for fat loss, muscle gain and overall fast twitch building activity. I haven’t done any running of any distance over 100 meters in quite some time now.
