Being liberal doesn’t make you un-american,

yes it does. Feeling entitled to what you don’t earn, and a welfare/nanny state with restrictions on personal freedoms is about as unamerican as it gets.

Placing restrictions on personal freedom makes you un-American, yet you’re telling him something he’s not allowed do, or not allowed be.

What does that make you?

Don’t you also get food and shelter from your parents, enjoy the benefits of a public education system, and not pay income taxes?

Libertarian nominee, considered the most conservative member in congress, when he served. Licked whipped cream off a woman’s chest to help fund leukemia research.

Ssssshhhh… patriotism is cool.

It’s like here in Ireland, 10 years ago you used to have all the 14 and 15 year olds talking about how great the republican movement and the IRA was, and how they were fighting for freedom from the UK.

Fast forward to now and the same guys are still “republicans” but instead of joining the republican movement they’re part of the fringe “republicans” who just use the banner ot justify the protection rackets, armed robberies, tiger kidnappings and drug pushing that they’re involved in.

Ideals are great. When you’re a teenager and don’t have to worry about or understand the real world.

I have a job, And I don’t ask for more then what’s needed. Being the way family works, I will carry this onto my children. This is FAR different then stealing taxpayer money, which a large portion of gets lost in the government machine to fund projects which make a people reliant on the government.

Just say no to big government

Same deal here, except it’s the fact our education system is pretty much indoctrinating students into socialism.

Yup, saw all that on Wiki.

I’m not accusing you of living in a wellfare state, I’m just saying that I don’t think most people are really going to care about your political opinion, as the political climate is hardly going to affect you.

And you’re right, most adul;ts don’t give a shit about my opinion and I don’t blame them, but you’re wrong at the same time. My generation is going to feel the pain of a collectivist government system longer then yours will. As in you’ll die first.

I’m only 22, I’m part of your generation.

And the more things change, the more they stay the same. Every generation kept saying that it was the end of times, and that it was the worst possible generation ever.

History is pretty cyclical.

I figured you were older. I agree, however we’re in a time of new extremes that are really only rivalled by the cold war. There isn’t really a sure deal something bad will happen, however the chances seem to be far greater then they should be.

New extremes rivaled by the Cold War? What extremism are you talking about specifically? We aren’t dealing with free market economy vs. communist economy anymore, and we aren’t the superpower we once were. The EU is rising pretty fast, as is China, and outsourcing is sending a lot of economic power into 3rd world states. I’d say they we have a lot more diversity of power than we had in the Cold War.

New stronger radical movements. Our allys becoming welfare states(britain, france, etc) which will eventually lead to us being a welfare state, The fact we’re paying people who want us dead for oil, and making them rich. Israel selling technology we give them to other countries. Nuclear weapons will be more available then ever in the next 50 years if nothing apporopriate is done.

We have relatively open borders. which is basically helping run the liberal political machine. We live in very scary times. We have too many people voting to elect someone because they don’t want the job market to change (factories going away) which also helps run the liberal machine. Which is going to lead to higher taxes, and restricted owner’s rights to keep the factories here. Western culture in general is becoming more violent then it has been in ages. We’re quite literally sitting on a powder keg.

Becoming welfare states? They’ve been that way for quite a while.

And dude, holy slippery slope Batman! You might wanna lay off of npr for a little bit.

Zephead I’m with you. Way back when I was in highschool I thought that the Republicans where the evil sherif of nottingham and Dummycrats were robbin hood doing the noble thing taking all that extra money from the rich to give to the poor. I’m not sure how it happened but it did. Robbin hood has thrown the bones to the poor and got fat on the profits. Find me a Democrat that does not support gun control and I’ll show you a liar.

The amount of moronic liberal retoric I heard daily walking the hallways was ridiculous. Don’t expect a conservative president out of my generation. We’re going to end up as bad as britain in the next couple decades.
