It’s nice to see from screen captures and from the trailers that they have chosen to actually use some big guys in the upcoming movie 300. Nobody is looking forward to this movie more than I, so I have a few things I have stumbled upon.
The Final Trailer - Think it’s allready been posted

It’s allready been posted? My fault. Oh well, it’s one of the few things that actually look promising in the movie world, worth a double post, hah.[/quote]

Any historians here to verify the historical accuracy of the movie? I have done some research and it looks pretty accurate. I hope it doesn’t turn into a video game movie. I can’t wait for it to come out. I thought it looked really stupid until I did the research and found out it’s based on an actual battle.

Yea, it does seem pretty accurate. it is based on the novel by Frank Miller which according to Amazon was incredibly intense. This is a definite Testosterone movie. It has violence, nudity and sex.
can’t wait for it either!! :D:D:D the previews had me speechless…
Historically speaking, during the Roman Empire, Spartans were some of the most hardy mercenaries and warriors around. Their method of warfare using the ‘phalanx’ formation (no pun) was quite a battle maneuver to master. However, their ability to kick ass singlehandedly made them doubly respectable opponents.
I dunno how much the movie pertains to the truth, but i can’t wait to find out!!

Not that I mind, but the trailers I have seen seem to show a more Science Fiction/Fantasy interpretation.
This is fine by me, I like historically accurate, but GOOD Fantasy type stuff is great too.
i.e. First Conan movie, Lord of the Rings. Problem is, most of them come off as cheese ball and/or fake.
Hopefully this one does not. With today’s special effects, the possibilities are endless, if the story and acting is worth a crap.
Another movie that looks pretty awesome is Pan’s Labyrinth. Anybody else psyched to see it?
Saw the preview for this when I went to see Apacalypto and wished I was going to see this one at that time. Bummed me out that I had to wait three months for it and am glad it won’t be long now. Most movies that come out IMO are complete crap and I don’t bother going to see them. That said Apacalypto was great and I expect this to be much better!
