Next comps on Saturday in fact. Going to see what I have this week, feeling battered so hopefully I’d have recovered by then. I’d usually lift lighter with 2 weeks to go. Less volume and minimal assistance work.

I should hammer out 120/145 @ 85kg

Openers, yeah?

Obviously mate. Thats the only way I know how to lift!

My coach will want me to go in more conservatively…but f0ck it. I’ll get 260Kg to qualify either way so I might as well go for broke

That’s the spirit!

You’re lifting bare-chested.
How do you keep the bar from scraping your clavicle area? Or is it an issue for you Koing?

BOMBED :frowning:

Weighed in at 83.34kg, good weight. Saunaed the night before for a bit, felt good.

Felt good in the day. Very pumped.

Warm ups were okay. Didn’t have the sharpness and crispness that I feel on comp days. This is the edge that lets me lift more at comps. Got pinned under 80, 90 and 100kg but got up with a bounce. Got under 110kg and got pinned properly. Just let it go behind to save some leg strength. Got under 115kg, got pinned.

Still went out for 120Kg. First was horrible, 2nd was a lot better, just needed to stay more over. 3rd was poor.

The bar felt very heavy off the floor and I didn’t have much of a 2nd pull. Okay speed under.

Legs were flat from the previous 3 weeks of heavy training. Didn’t train after Monday’s as I was fatigued and wasn’t feeling great on Tue or Wed.

Next year I’ll have to hammer it out.

The bar racks in to position and doesn’t land on my clavicle bone. It lands nearer my neck, really tight.

It’s a timing thing you get use to. I don’t think about it, it just happens. Do lots of bar work and you will rack it easily everytime.

I’ve not noticed it as being an issue. But my left clavicle bone is a different shape, but this is more due to me falling down a latter when I was younger.

do you drink any redbull/Spike or drink some coffee or anything to get you geared up for a comp? too bad you didnt hit what you wanted

on another note thanks for the advice, i did some cleans yesterday and ‘discovered’ my hamstrings and 2nd pull, previously i would describe it more as a fast deadlift

I have a coffee in the morning. I suppose I could have had another coffee later or redbull. But it wasn’t that I wasn’t ampped for the comp, as I always am.

I was just flat. Getting the bar off the floor didn’t feel exlosive and once under in the receive position it felt heavy over head to get up. I guess I just trained far too heavy to get any tapering off for the comp. My coach didn’t want me to taper for the comp at all. He wanted me to squat heavy on the Friday lunchtime also!

He wants me to only peak for 2 comps a year. But I prefer to lift at more comps say 5 or 6 in total in a year. The only tapering I really do is the last week before the comp. I don’t do any pulls, back squats or any assistance work. Mon, and Wed I do Snatch to 90% and C&J to 90% and a heavy 3reps in the front squat. That keeps me fresh for the comp. But then it also ‘wastes’ 6-8 weeks out of the 48 weeks that are are of useful training in a year. 3-4 weeks for the last weeks tapering and the 3-4 weeks afterwards to recover from the comp.

I guess I’ll just mess about for the rest of the year and pick it back up in January.

Yes your hamstrings are heavily used in the 2nd pull when it is executed correctly. REACH WITH YOUR HEAD and everything else will follow
