2busy's Training Log of Solitude

Saturday - 11/5

Off day.

Weekend with my kids

Sunday - 11/6

Walking lunges

10 reps.

Progress, yay.

Monday - 11/7

Messy…

Walking lunges

1 set of 10 reps.

Felt pain in the upper right area of repair.

Walk…

45 minutes @ 4mph, 3 miles, 562 calories…

First 7.5 minutes was @ an incline of 7…

That hurt, so I dropped the incline to 5 as per last week.

Made it to 20 minutes.

Hurt more, so I dropped the pace to 3.6 mph.

I made it through 3 minutes, got angry and cranked the pace back up to 4 mph.

So then…

I took the pace to 4.4mph for 3 - one minute ā€œsprintsā€ with about a two minute gap between the sprints.

So I ended up getting in an average of 4 mph for the 45 minutes…

Ab crunches on yoga ball

4 sets of 15 reps.

The last set felt better then the first.

are the drs telling you to work through the pain?

They said not to go too crazy…

I pull the plug when it is close to making me stop the movement.

I seem to be getting further along before it reaches the stop point.

Wednesday - 11/9

Today was just a fucked up, disaster of a day.

There was no work out, btw.

That doesn’t sound good. We all have days where we just want to slap the world across the face.

Seems like you are persevering through a frustrating training time with your limitations.

Hang in there.

Thanks.

It was more a day where the world bitched slapped me in the face.

Saturday - 11/12

Took day off.

I did do a plank for 1 minute to test my abs.

Tried a pull up but that bad spot at the uper right edge of the patch said no.

Hey Busy. I’m amazed at what you are doing already. I know it feels like it’s going slowly, but you seem like you’re on track to me. I can’t believe you’re planking already.

I know what you mean about the pulling. The internal scar tissue feels tight at first, and it takes awhile for things to become more flexible again. I’m still working on that, and I’m 4.5 months out already. So, I’m impressed. I know you’ve been through this before, but I really didn’t appreciate what surgery in the abdominal area was going to be like. The abs are used for EVERYTHING! Going slow beats taking a chance at tearing something.

Hang in there. You’ve had one helluva year.

Sunday - 11/13

Planks - 4 x 60 seconds. Ouch.

All exercises are in lbs x reps x sets

Squats

0x10x1
45x10x5 - could feel the sore spot, but was able to get through.

Bench

45x10x1
65x10x5 - the usual sore spot complained some.

Lat Pull Downs

80x10x5 - this was ok. Intended 70 lbs but missed with the pin and realized after the 1st set, so I left it there.

Seated Dumbbell Shoulder Press (single dumbbell weight)

30x10x5 - last 2 reps of last set caused pain.

Tricep Cable Pulldown

70x5x5 - ok, but felt my abs strain throughout all the sets.

Barbell Bicep Curls

50x10x3
50x8x1 - pain @ rep 8 and stopped.

I am improving.

Now to get where I can start pushing myself.

Monday - 11/14

Ended up being up from Sunday morning to Monday evening.

What was supposed to be 4 hours of database maintenance turned into a 20 hour work mess with a server dying, and me recovering the fubar database afterwards.

Walk 45 minutes @ 4mph, incline 7, 530 calories, 3 miles covered

Walking lunges - 6 sets x 10 reps each leg.

Yes, I put my knee to the ground.

It’s just like one of the mobility drills from hockey camp

Good luck with the recovery.

Thanks Cav!

It’s slow but I’m improving.

Tuesday - 11/15

Just planks.

10 x 60 seconds

Ouch.
