Yeah, I knew that term was going to be a problem.
I am replying here because I can’t reply in the other post due to my user level. I felt it was important to clarify my thoughts, much like @BrickHead did regarding his use of Alpha. I can be a little slow.
I will clarify and then give a source for my thoughts.
Masculine energy is the desire to impose order and create safety for a society. It is not the sole domain of men.
Feminine energy is more creative and chaotic. Artists, male and female, harness this energy.
Most people have a mix of both. Men can have feminine energy (creative) and women can have masculine (a sense of order and logic). We all fall on a spectrum of both.
Toxic Masculinity is essentially the same as immature masculinity. Both have negative connotations, but really shouldn’t. In the interest of imposing order and safety, mature masculinity uses the least force possible to maintain order. A guy looks at your girl wrong in a bar, you give him the eye. If he stops, end of conflict. If he doesn’t, you talk to him. If it stops, end of conflict. You take him outside and beat him up as a last resort.
Arguably, we could get into semantics, and say that she is not your possession and should handle it herself, but save that for later.
Immature masculinity sucker punches the guy and then celebrates with his bros.
@BethB - thought I would hip you to me moving this to my thread.
