250: A Goal Has Been Attained

I agree with this, but want to add that the fellow needs to understand how to lift with intensity (and how to perdioize/switch up his training to break plateaus) and dial in diet/supps before he goes on an all out effort to gain body-weight.
He needs a solid gameplan from this point now that he is past his noobie gains.

Seen too many disasters.

Yea, I didn’t say add 100lbs of MUSCLE, I said get to 350. If he is as tall as I think he is, Adding 100 lbs would not be hard at all. maybe 70-80 lbs of it could be muscle and yes he would gain some fat as well, thats what happens when you are on a bulk. Hell even if it’s 50-50 fat muscle, it’s still gonna be 50 more pounds of muscle than he had before and he can diet off the fat and be 300 lbs and pretty lean.

If he gained 50-50 fat to muscle he’d probably be close to 25% bodyfat. Sorry. That’s too fat. I doubt Lee Priest gets that fat in the off season.

And if you are gaining a 1-1 ratio of fat to muscle something is seriously wrong with your diet. There must be a rather large margin of error.

Adding 100 pounds without getting fat is hard no matter who you are. Especially if it’s not the first 100 pounds you’ve put on through training.

I think there are a lot of unrealistic numbers being thrown around on this thread.

Keep in mind PHIL PFISTER is 6’6" and 350lbs. PHIL MOTHER FUCKING PFISTER - A WORLD’S STRONGEST MAN WINNER.

How long do you think it took Phil to get to 350lbs?

People are suggesting that the OP’s next step is to be 350lbs. That’s totally absurd. If that even is a goal of his, there are many major steps before getting to that bodyweight.

Yea of course it’s too fat, I mean it’s not ideal, but it’s sure as hell a lot better than gaining 100lbs of fat right. Look If he busts his ass in the gym, eats 80% Clean and eats big, he has the potential to gain another 100 Lbs in 2-3 years. .5 lbs of muscle a week is doable, hard but possible. Thats 26 Lbs a year or roughly 75 pounds in 3 years. Add in the 25 Lbs of fat that will accompany that and you have your 350 Lb man. And yes just because his name isn’t Phil Phister doesn’t mean that he can’t be 6’7" and 350 Lbs. I have a friend whi is 6’5" and easily 375, and allthough he has a good deal of fat on him, he is also very solid muscle wise. He was a very good hockey player and went to a D1 school for football before an injury ended his career. He played Tackle. So while seeing some huge guy may seem thike it only happens on TV to you. I see it all the time and know that it can be achieved.

V

Alright. Good to know you thing that gaining 1-1 fat to muscle is ridiculous.

How long has your large friend been training? If he’s a D1 Athelte my guess is his whole life. He’s probably got pretty good genetics for size too.

I’m not saying the OP can’t get to 350. I won’t tell him it’s not possible. Anything could happen. I’m just saying getting to an Athletic 350lbs will take a long ass time, even with drugs.

Your 6’5" 375 friend. When was the last time he was 180lbs? When he was 13? How long did it take him to go from 180lbs to 375? If it was less than 5 years, did he have puberty to help him along? How big is his Dad?

Listen to Justin Harris talk about how insane even gaining a pound a month for the rest of your carrier is.

Yes, gaining .5 pounds of muscle a week is possible. The webisodes of the nerd in “Steroids saved my life” would gain over a pound a day since he had roids and newbie gains going for him. About half of that was water retention, but you get what I’m saying. I agree that big gains can be made fast. In certain cases.

But gaining muscle is not linear. Gaining 80 pounds in 2 years would be nothing short of a miracle for someone who is already accustomed to weightlifting and eating a lot of food.

Yea, my buddy was 350 when he was in HS he is genetically huge. He doesn’t lift at all, the only thing he did was play hockey and football. To me it looks like the OP still has massive gains to make. Though he doesn’t look like he is out of shape, he still does not look like he works out all the time. If he put more time in the gym and possibly upped his intensity in the gym (I don’t know what his gym sessions look like) he still has quite a few years of solid gains coming. Guys who are going to have a hard time gainging muscle fast are someone like mighty stu. He is big for his size and the gains he makes from here on out are likley going to be hard to come by. Luckily for a guy like him, he busts his ass and i’m sure good gains are still in his future. The OP looks like a basketball player, and though he will lilkley never look like a BB, that type of thickness, he could easily look like some of the bigger guys in the NBA, still long and lean, but jacked none the less. Labron James is a good example.

V

Bottom line is that the OP shouldn’t be told to be so strict with his diet that he limits his gains and I tend to believe that his previous weight gains have come naturally and due to his body maturing more so than any hard work he put into the gym. AS I said previously I really don’t see improvement, especially none to the point where I can say that this is a guy who did spend his last 6 months in the gym consistently.

If my hunch is right then if he really buckles down and bust his butt over the next 6 months even with a less than clean diet he’ll gain more muscle than fat with any weight he puts on…

Alright Vegita. I don’t really disagree with anything you’ve said in the last post. Yes, Lebron James is Jacked. Yes, the OP has made great gains.

But attaining freak status with 3 more years of training is just not going to happen for the OP. I think everyone can agree on that.

theres some dude on the Lakers who looks like hes juicing.

I never thought I’d have to justify adding size and strength on this forum. Embarassing.

Apologies for not holding a shoe in either pic, but I’m about 20% bf right now with the majority in a pouch up front. Arms still pinch 10mm.

Now if you’re done staring at my junk, maybe you can throw some constructive comments my way, re: getting stronger. I’m doing Bill Starr 5x5 and microloading each week with the pink plates. I go heavy every workout, no breaks. Suggestions welcome.

Thanks for the support. I’m glad some real BB’ers chimed in here, that makes me lucky to have y’alls.

Oh man. No offense but you look like your barely pushing 140 pounds. I do not see any upper-body thickness, and legs are skinny.

Keep pushing dude. It has been asked before but for interest’s sake, how tall are you?

Depending on what your goals are perhaps you should take a look at another training program and give that a try. Nice weight gain though.

He is probably tall…

Wow, you must be really tall man. Anyway, you have obviously gained a good amount of muscle since you are not that much fatter now. But if you look at your hips and shoulders, you see you have very wide hip bones, so you’ll really need to focus on your back width and shoulders if you are ever going to look big.

The good thing though is that usually tall people with wide hips have an easier time with adding muscle, and you can store more fat without looking obese (assuming you don’t store most of it in your love handles, then you’re fucked).

So go ahead and bulk, but maybe you should add some cardio, considering how long you will be bulking. Also, you know if you have the intensity in the gym to make it to 300 lean. If you don’t there’s no point to it.
