that’s the only way to press.

the exrx press standards are a strict standing military press from the chest with no leg drive. Stopping at the chin makes the lift much easier and adds considerably to the amount of possible weight. It’s basically like doing a rack pull or board press, it is potentially useful if you need to improve a specific range of the pressing motion but most people just seem do it for ego reasons.

As for the rotor cuff problem claims I suspect they are much like the claims of full depth squats being bad for your knees. I’ve heard them a lot from people who seem to only ever use a short ROM yet I’ve never seen anyone who uses a full ROM regularly develop any specific rotor cuff issues. Pressing behind the neck is a different matter and pressing the bar too far forward can lead to back problems but in general the only shoulder issues I’ve noticed were related to a lack of flexibility. Pressing with dumbells is often an easy solution to this though.

for the record I can strictly press 100kg @ 93kg and pushpress 110kg for 5.

I angle the bench so it’s on the 1st notch shy of 90 degrees (just to protect my aging lower back!). Have done 265 with a bar in the past, but routinely use dumbells for the more natural arc of the movement (I try to do more of a ‘flye’ motion than a press, where my tris can help).
