sup ya’ll? figured i would see how a measure up. I was a walk-on football player (d-1a) for three years. during that time i got up to 260 lbs through last summer. then i started boxing and judo and began to slim down to 215 lbs. and now this summer i have built myself back up to 225 lbs. I am 6’4’'. Thanks for your time!

back again.
My goals really have nothing to do with how i look. rather I train in order to compete in MMA, judo, boxing. My training includes many Oly’s and many multiple joint movements. I barely ever do curls of any type. in fact i have probably isolated the biceps maybe on 10 occassions in the last year! Go pull-ups and rows! haha.
My weight sessions are no longer than 2 hrs if that. I usually do one Oly day with DB’s focusing on speed, one Oly day with BB focussing on heavier weight. then the other two days are one day with 1-2 heavy low body movements and then repetition method scheme for the upper body. then i flip that for the 4th and final weight day (heavy upper, rep. lower).
I train this way in order to continue to become strong and explosive while still gaining some mass in order to compete as a HW. Again any input is greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Can you post your workout for a week? Exercises, sets, and reps. Thanks.
Nice job for a tall guy.
Nice job man!

Then why post as pic and ask people to rate my physique? This is a serious question.

I was just curious.
A typical training week for at least the last month has looked sort of like this:
Monday (dynamic oly day)
- DB split snatch 5x4, 1-1.5 min rest
- DB power press 5x4, 1-1.5 min rest
- Med ball side throws 2x10 each side
- Crunches (i randomize this each week, make it a circut)
- External Rotation 2x20 each arm
Tuesday (heavy lower/repetition upper)
-
front squat 5x3, 2-3 min rest
-
RDL 5x3, 2-3 min rest
-
DB bench 4x10, 1 min rest
-
cable flys 4x10, 1 min
-
standing DB military 4x10, 1 min
-
BB row 4x10, 1 min
-
pull downs 4x10, 1 min
-
calbe row 4x10, 1 min
Thursday (heavy oly)
- Snatch squat 2x5, 1-2 min
- hang clean 4x3, 2-3 min
- power press 4x3, 2-3 min
- trunk twist 2x10
- crunch (focusing more on obliques)
Friday (heavy upper/repetition lower)
-
BB bench 5x3, 2-3 min
-
weighted pull-ups 5x3, 2-3 min
-
single leg squat 3x8, 1 min
-
leg curl 4x10, 1 min
-
leg ext. 4x10, 1 min
-
calf raises 4x10, 1 min
*I get my cardio from judo and boxing training along with the occasional GPP workouts.

haha, maybe one day
Great job…being 6’6" I can appreciate your accomplishments.
Well you asked for it when you put fighter in the title. First off one word concerning phyisque: Fedor. I am not going to explain anymore because if you don’t understand then you are a MMA Poser. Secondly, One thing I dislike about this site is you got people who say they are into MMA and all, but if you got to come on here to talk or in my opinion brag about it then that is sad.
I suggest you come over to Sherdog.com or Subfighter.com with the rest of us and quit wasting these guys time. People who are really into MMA don’t care about how they look and would not ask BBs or PLs about it either. I mean come on do you thinnk Nog would come on here and flex his back and ask everyone what do you think the scar on my back affects my phyisque.
No he doesn’t care because he really does MMA and is pretty good if i can remember correctly LOL. Well, I have been enough of a jerk. I will leave you with this… Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Wrestling not Boxing and Judo well unless you are just kidding.
looking good big man. . .

So then, a person can’t play a sport and care about physique? Sounds like you’ve been KO’d one to many times man. ![]()
Adam. I guess you missed his point. Point being is that a person who’s into competitive sports (besides BB’ing) shouldn’t care about how they look. They should only care about how their physique effects their performance in their given sport.

I was wondering the same thing but the OP has a good physique so it is a step up from the usual.

And I guess you missed Adam’s point that you can still want to look good, even while training exclusively for your sport. Think about if you told Chef Lisa that that she should only carry about food as far as it effects her physique. Sorry, she likes food, and if it doesn’t interfere with her physique goals, then let her enjoy it.
To the OP, nice job, esp at 6-4. You know you can put more weight on you if you want, you had 260 before, but I don’t know weight classes etc.
I didn’t miss a single thing Adam wrote, but it sure seems as if reading comprehension is a rare gift. “…competitve sports” were the clue words you should be looking for. Chef Lisa and her recipies has nothing what so ever to do in this discussion by the way.
It really doesn’t matter if you carry 5, 8 or 12% body fat as a MMA (unless you’re about to break into a new weightclass) but it sure does matter if you’re caring about esthetics in a BB’ing way. I’d go so far to say that it might even be a bonus to carry some extra fat since it indicates that you’re eating enough to stimulate muscle growths. Powerlifters are a perfect example of that.
