21 Year Old, 5'6, 140 lbs

21 year old male, 5’6" 140 lbs, only got testosterone tested once and it was 400 ng/dl which is no good.

I’m basically looking for ways through diet and training I can max out the levels of HGH, test and DHT that my body is producing so I can develop all the characteristics that will make me look like a more mature man or strong. I’m convinced this is possible.

I’m convinced my levels of these hormones aren’t optimum because my sex drive isn’t as high as it could be, I’m not incredibly muscular nor can I grow much body or facial hair. I’m white, with eastern european genetics and ancestors with facial hair, so I know that I have the potential.

Current exercise routine: full bodyweight workout every day using iron gym, chin ups, pull ups, crunches, push ups. Don’t use dumbells because I get a better workout with bodyweight. Cardio: sprint sessions, bike riding, running (short and intense ~5K, not long and slow endurance running).

Diet: raw fruits, raw veggies, wholegrains, chicken, beef, eggs, cheese, nuts, milk, very very little sugar. I also practice intermittent fasting.

sleep: at least 8 hours a night.

Post your bloodwork in the TRT section.

Eat more animal fats, and quit the IF. When I was doing IF back in 2012, my sex drive plummeted.

Any examples of good animal fats besides eggs?

BTW, don’t have full access to bloodwork… all I know is that free test was 400

Organic free range eggs and grass fed beef.

Don’t have access, why?

As embarassing as it sounds, it’s because my parents won’t let me get the results ordered from my doc.

Yes, I’m 21 and still dependent on my 'rents. In college. That’s part of the reason I’m trying to increase test, so I can become more alpha and break out of the cycle of weakness and dependency. Looking to change my life and body, grab life by the horns and skull fuck it for all it’s worth.

It’s hard to feel alpha when your body is underdeveloped. I came here looking to fix that.

Go train with barbells.

You can start with the small step of taking responsibility for your own health. You’re no longer a minor, call the doctor’s office and ask for a copy of your test results.

A combo of IF, lots of cardio and bodyweight workouts that are so lacking in intensity you can do them everyday aren’t ideal for Testosterone. Having said that, it sounds like something you should be talking to more qualified people about, rather than anonymous strangers on message boards.

Intrigued to hear this…I’ve been (sorta, not totally) IF’ing for a few months and had started to notice the same. Had no trouble on a recent visit from GF but rarely awake with morning wood or get spurious erections when she’s not around. Might start eating a more substantial lunch again and see where that takes me.

You think more T will fix your low self esteem and body issues? I know PLEANTY of meathheads who are total pussies. Every bodybuilder that walks in my gym gets put on their back until they gas out and quit. Usually the bigger, tanned, ripped all year round type guys are girly men. Why do you think they spend so much time “bulking”? Because they believe people will treat them with more respect, when in reality it is their own respect for themselves that needs work.

You wan’t to be an alpha? Never going to happen.

Even if you somehow get your pathetic T levels up, go on TRT, or do a full blown AAS cycle, you’re still going to be a coward. If you wan’t to break the cycle of being a pussy and skullfuck your life you need to start changing the way you THINK, not what you put in your body.

Then what do you suggest I do? If that’s the case than I’ll get more in tune with myself spiritually and not give a shit about muscle.

You do however make a contradictory statement, you state my T is “pathetic”. At the very least I would wish to fix that. What the fuck should I do?

^ok I completely agree with most of this. Problems are not solved in the gym.

But this part really cracked me up LMAO!!!

Then maybe I am in the wrong place, and should instead get courage and confidence from a spiritual source.

If my T is pathetic, what can I do about it?

I’ve been tested at 300 ng/dl

I have a powerlifter buddy, closing in on a 1650 total, who’s been tested at 400 ng/dl.

You’re fucking fine. Stop looking for excuses. Just go do whatever you have to do.

Do barbell lifts and generally kick your ass as hard as you can in the gym and other physical activities, according to some plan of course.

Also eat a bunch of actual foods and sleep a lot.

Your Test. level isn’t some absolute number that cannot change. It is heavily dependent on what you do.

Well, not taking shit from that troll would be a good start.

While bpbob is a tool he does have a few good points. Yes, accomplishing things like being successful, built, having a hot girl(s) on your arm constantly will boost your confidence and make you feel like a boss. Are having these things awesome? Yes, they are, but it won’t fix you. That comes from inside.

Confidence is being the gym newbie who joins a powerlifting gym and openly admits that he just wants to look like a male stripper, even though everyone else teases him about being a prettyboy.

Confidence is openly striving for that dream job, even though it’s super hard to achieve. Even though so there are so many people who tell you that you won’t make it. And then proving them all wrong, and getting there even faster than you said you would.

Confidence is breaking up with that really hot popular younger girl because she’s a psycho bitch rather than putting up with her shit because you’re scared you’ll never find anyone better.

Confidence is sticking around to write this because you sound like a nice guy and I want to help instead of studying for my cardiology exam that I might very well fail tomorrow (well… that might be overconfidence :S).

Confidence is striving for what YOU want out of life instead of letting the bitter betties and the dickwads who tell you what you should want out of life scare you away. It’s not about never feeling fear. It’s about not letting fear hold you back.

Now, I have a few questions for you to answer truthfully to yourself.

  1. Am I satisfied with my life? The answer should be no because you should always have goals. Don’t be afraid to admit the things you want to yourself.

  2. Am I making progress towards getting what I want at a reasonable rate?

  3. What’s holding me back?

  4. Why is it holding me back?

  5. What can I do to fix that?

  6. Why am I not doing that?

Then make a plan and execute it.

Your test is just a fucking number. A number with no context and a worthless one at that because single lab tests for endo are worth squat unless they show something highly notable. Don’t use it as an excuse to hold yourself back from achievement. There are no excuses, only winners and losers. Which side do you want to be on?

Now go out there and kick some ass. If you’re genuinely interested in lifting, stick around because it’s a great hobby and there are some very knowledgeable and experienced people on this site. If not, get the fuck off the computer now and start working. Because the rest of your life starts now.

PS: Don’t go over the top. Being a belligerent, deliberately nonconformist asshole who shit-disturbs “just cuz” and is hyper-aware of how “alpha” he is at any time isn’t confidence. That’s just being a prick.

low T is this generation’s hargainer.

Well Said Apoklyps!
