How about just being honest with the american people from the start and taking this thing serious as the real health threat it is instead of downplaying it.
He could also just stop the lies but lying is his comfort zone.
Soā¦you have nothing? In case it wasnāt clear, Iām asking what a President can do about a virus. I understand a āPresident may suspend statutory wage-rate requirements for public contracts,ā but Iām not sure how much impact that will have on a virus.
Ohā¦ā Certain World War II veterans, who would ordinarily be exempt from Selective Service, may be drafted.ā Well, that should help Slow The Spread.
Ah, I found it: President may allocate coal and require the transportation thereof for the use of any electric power plant or major fuel-burning installation; and may stay the application of any provision or rule pertaining to electric power plants for up to 90 days or for the duration of the emergency, whichever is shorter.
That should definitely end sickness forever.
You have nothing.
How was he dishonest(in regards to the Rona)?
What should he have done? Mask up 24/7? Would that have been a sufficient virtue signal?
Again, what were his lies in regards to the Rona?
He has been recorded saying he intentionally downplayed the virus. Is intentionally downplaying being dishonest? I think so.
No, but heās an idiot for wording it that way anyway.
As itās been said before Iām not going to spoon feed you the info. We have this thing called google and I guarantee you that you can find your answers there.
Just take the info thatās attributed to him by his own words. Those are the best.
I donāt see any dishonesty, other than playing along with this dumb shit. I would have preferred he laugh at those worried about The Rona, and call them idiots. Alas, heās not a true Deplorableā¦but heās better than the alternative.
Thatās the policy equivalent of ārub some dirt on itā, which is about as much as I was told to do by MDs.
This whole scapegoating about a virus is incredibly disingenuous if it doesnāt include some level of blame for the Millions of Americans who have actively rebelled against the guidlines set forth.
Also extraordinarily disingenuous of Biden and the left to foment fear and distrust of a vaccine when so many of them have been screaming from the rooftops that we need a vaccine for the last 9 months.
Left: āWE NEED A VACCINE!ā
Trump: āWe have one on the way.ā.
Left: āDonāt trust him! He rushed it! The vaccine is blah blah blah!ā
Same with masks, respirators, testing and everything else.
Thatās why many on the left just look like whiney assholes who think itās their job to complain.
Theyāre saying that the efforts of the people who have worked themselves to the bone to provide necessary solutions arenāt good enough and donāt count.
More like some third grade shit.
Who says it canāt be both???
Yep. The Democrats have made COVID totally political.
Well, that and the fact thatās what they are.
How about everyoneās virus hero Fauci with his (in)famous 60 minutes interview take on the wearing/efficacy of masks?
At least Trump has the excuse that heās not a smart man (said in Forrest Gump voice). What was Fauciās excuse?
IIRC, he has said he regretted that, right?
By Trumpās statement, it sounds like at the time he was convinced that the virus was serious, then downplayed it. That in my book is lying / deceiving, independent of what Fauci said.
We expect politicians to behave like that. Especially Trump, right?
But the hero Fauci says he regrets making a unilateral triage decision (based on his own āpredictionsā of the severity of the virus), and he gets a free pass because he āregretsā it? LOL.
Well, I would rather have someone own up to their mistakes than deny it, or lie about it further. I donāt know where you got the idea that he gets a free pass. The guy has lost credibility.
Fauci being wrong doesnāt make it okay that Trump downplayed the virus intentionally.
I am not really sure where you are going with this?
He gets a free pass because he would lock people away forever if he could. The slā¦people love that.
Maybe now. Not before Trump. We used to be represented by folks with morals and smarts. Now, racists.
That fuckinā Trump wanted to let people make their own decisions. Look at everyone other than me. Do you think theyāre capable of making decisions that serve me?
There oughta be a law.
Here are 3 things, spelled out very simplyā¦
Specific Laws and Regulations Governing the Control of Communicable Diseases
The Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services has statutory responsibility for preventing the introduction, transmission, and spread of communicable diseases in the United States. Under its delegated authority, the Division of Global Migration and Quarantine works to fulfill this responsibility through a variety of activities, including
- the operation of Quarantine Stations at ports of entry
- establishment of standards for medical examination of persons destined for the United States, and
- administration of interstate and foreign quarantine regulations, which govern the international and interstate movement of persons, animals, and cargo.
The legal foundation for these activities is found in Titles 8 and 42 of the U.S. Code and relevant supporting regulations.
Legal Authorities for Isolation and Quarantine
The federal government derives its authority for isolation and quarantine from the Commerce Clause of the U.S. Constitution. Read more on the Legal Authorities for Isolation and Quarantine page.
There are two issues here. First is the timing. Trump said during the debate that wide distribution of a vaccine is imminent. CDC Director Redfield said it would be well into next year before the vaccine would be widely available. The pharma execs developing the vaccine say the same thing. Not a rhetorical question - who do you believe? The guy who has every political incentive to over-promise? The guy who suggested a flu vaccine could offer protection? The guy who touted a malria drug as a prophylactic? Surely you can understand why some folks may be a little hesitant to trust Trump here.
The second cause for concern is the potential for unintended side effects. Phase 3 clinical drug trials are where most of the safety data is gathered due to the larger number of participants and longer duration (generally last 1 - 4 years). Pharma companies have just gotten into Phase 3 trials within the past few months. Letās say you believe Trumpās timeline, and your family doctor has a vaccine waiting for your kid in a few weeks. Are you comfortable with the doctor injecting junior with something that didnāt undergo the usual 1 - 4 years of safety testing? Hell, the trials havenāt even lasted long enough for us to know whether the vaccine candidates offer permanent or just temporary protection.
So you believe itās worth it to create mistrust of the pharmaceutical industry and scientists because Trump doesnāt tell the truth?
You do understand that they are separate entities, right?
Yeah! Trumps a liar! Boo hiss.
So why fuck with the general publics heads if not for political points?
From the party that has been hollering āTrust Science!ā
Science says āHereās a vaccine.ā.
Party Heads āDonāt trust science!ā.
I know you saw the moderator fire back at Biden when he started down that road.
This is the problem with conflating public health and hygiene with political affiliation. Itās a big thorny snarl that is going to cut them no matter which way they (Dem politicians) turn at this point.
On my son: Iām not too worried about him. Heās a strong healthy 8 year old. Iām worried about me, and his future if I contract this and die because of a comorbidity (heart failure).
This isnāt for sick political burns to me. This is real. I donāt trust Trumps word on this because he isnāt a medical professional. I trust my PCP and Cardiologist. Temporary protection is better than none, and considering what Iām facing, Iām willing to take the risk under the advice of real medical professionals.
If people want or expect perfect, theyāre going to be waiting a looooong time. Sometimes good enough is exactly that, good enough.
