2020: IronOne Levels Up

I gotcha. I do go through a thorough warmup, because I’m a brittle snowflake :snowflake:

Got a pic of your setup? Love seeing home gyms. Even the simplest ones. Love a simple gym.

I’ve started a challenge with myself.

I’m not going to shave anything on my face except my neck until the Chinese Flu is gone this season.

So basically I’m going to grow a beard.

Here’s about a week of growth.

You’re in for a long beard Iron.
Those squats looked fan-f*ucking-tastic. Really really good stuff.
And great home gym

I’m bout 3 months in though lol. Beards take time.

Looks like your making nice progress on your squats man. Keep it up!

You still feeling good after having the catheter ablation done?

Haha, I’m not a beard guy, but I’m bored with this whole coronavirus thing, so figured why not. Less shaving too :joy:.

Yeah the squats are going well. Right hip still needs work. But I’m confident I’m making progress. My hip flexors are all f’ed up. But working on them daily. Today’s squat session had literally no pain. Could have loaded weight up today. Legs were strong, but stayed the course.

One more cycle then full week deload. Like no barbell at all deload.

Going to hit some max 6 rep sets this week and see where I’m at going into this deload.

Heart has been great. The ablation did the trick for now. I feel so blessed. How is your dad doing?

I just got tired of shaving and it’s one less thing I have to do now except the occasional neck and cheek line trims lol.

Anything over 5 reps is cardio lol I don’t partake unless it’s accessory movements…

My dads doing well. It took him prob half a year or so to get to feeling normal after the procedure. I’ve heard mixed bag reviews about it but it sounds like it worked for you so that’s great news. Glad your feeling good.

It rocked my world for a good 3-4 months after too. Elevated HR, low work capacity, lots of ectopic beats and irregularity. However, all of it is normal as the heart heals.

My HR is now back to resting baseline, work capacity is back mostly, and I don’t redline as easy. Still, I try not to prolong a high HR in fear of triggering an episode.

Just hope it sticks awhile. If I get 10 years, I’ll be tickled pink, and will go do it again. One ablation per 10 years. Sign me up haha.

LOL, I feel that way too!

Good luck on the beard. I have about 3 hair follicles on my cheeks! I look like a teenage boy trying to grow his first beard when I don’t shave.

Impressive OHP!

Are those incline presses done at the first notch above flat? If so, that’s where I do my DB Bench. I don’t remember where I saw it, but I think someone said it’s better for your shoulders. I also want some upper chest growth so it can’t hurt there either.

Thanks. Making some progress.

Yeah, one notch up from flat. I’ve heard the same too.

Time to changes stuff up again for next block!

Low incline = 15 degrees
Incline = 30 degrees, which is what incline benches are set at
High Incline = 45-60 degrees

I always just did 30 degrees, but had heard the same thing about low incline, about the shoulders. Problem is, with a little bit of back arch, your chest becomes perpendicular to the floor and you have essentially a flat press going on. I think it’s probably still great for hypertrophy, but I don’t think it hits the upper chest that much.

Nice WU Iron, really awesome press, strict and real solid. Envy that one.
I think I’m doing my incline with the 30 degree, if I’m using the low I think it becomes very similar to flat… I’ll give the low incline a shot next time.
