2020 ADD Challenge

Would you not consider getting a coach to write a program specific to your goals. It takes away the guess work and give you some extra accountability??

Seriously, how do you even go about finding one?

That is a really good question and would probably be a good thread starter on here. The first step is to determine what you want to achieve, no point using a powerlifting coach for BB or a BB coach for strongman.
For me the step would be either to get a recommendation from someone I trust or do some research online. Once you have a shortlist of those who have the right credentials then it’s a case of whether you feel you can work with their philosophies. No point working with a coach you won’t see eye to eye with. Some sort of online interview or discussion should take place to see 1 if they want to take you on and 2 if you want to be coached by then. It’s a 2 way thing.

Dave Tate has an article on ā€œThings to look for in a coachā€ I believe.

Probably not, I’m pretty stubborn when it comes to advice

Alsruhe just dropped a ā€œcookie cutterā€ program of his power builder template. He said he took info given to him from several athletes that ran their variation of the template and compiled it on this program. Has a 25 dollar price tag.

What tag is everyone using for their training log? I tried looking for some other people’s logs and the ā€œcommitted 2020ā€ tag is in use twice. Once by me. Once by this thread…

There’s both a committed2020 tag and a comitted2020 tag. Also, a vomitted2020 tag if anyone is interested.

After the 2nd bowl of chili to get that last bit of ground beef down, I vote for vomited2020.

Just learned how to tag my log, literally 5 minutes ago, lol

Alright, folks, what happened to this thread? How’s everyone doing?

I wasn’t really planning to officially enter this thing, but I have some new things going on and I’ll put them in writing here.

  1. I’m ā€œcommittedā€ to not planning my own training. I’m going to run Ryan Fischer’s HIIB (High Intensity Interval Bodybuilding) for a while. I think I have three versions of it so that gives me 90 days of training (including the rest days). If I finish all of them before the end of the year then I’ll start following a CF site and do their WODs.

  2. Before I train, I must read my daily devotional (Our Daily Bread), scripture, or watch the mini series my pastor is putting on You Tube. Training time comes after time with the Lord.

(For those of you who don’t read my shenanigans, I’m having a bit of a mental health struggle and reorganizing things in my life to get healthy.)

Just looked back at my ā€œplanā€ and I’m pretty close to being spot on. Still working towards my goals using 5/3/1 with supplemental volume for size versus strength being the only change. I’ve added and subtracted accessory or extra stuff, but the plan has been on the same track.

I like your new plan, may have to adopt the second half of it. Good luck!

Sorry to hear you are struggling. I haven’t been keeping up with your log, it moves pretty fast.

I have 3 weeks left of the Kroc simple DL plan. On track to finish it barring any disasters.

I’m not sticking to the plan. But I have kept the same goals. So its a win for me.

I set these strength goals for before the start of November:

  • Squat 175kg for 5 (not tested. Will do next week)
  • Log press 12 inch log 85kg for 5 (no grounding but using a dip) (Done)
  • Axle dead lift 200kg for 5 (190x6 will test 200kg next week)
  • Yoke carry 290kg / or farmers walk 120kg a hand for 20m (test both Saturday)
  • One arm row 70kg x 10 (miles off I’d struggle 60kg for 10 but will test tomorrow)

I set a weight goal also.
Weight down to 102-104kg. Well I’m at 102.9 in the mornings so I’d say I hit that also.

After the start of November its a race to 95kg or lower. Overall I’m happy.

Mostly on track, have dropped hard conditioning and a day of lifting as life was (and is) kicking my bottom. Need to step conditioning up again.

So - new uk lock down:
Competition is cancelled.
Gyms closed.
New plan.

I was making good progress on an upper lower style programme.

Lower body;
531 front squat with back squat drop set.
Lunges to finish off the legs.
But will add a set of lateral raises with the 5kg plates to this. I want big delts.

Upper day
531 press
In line bench press
Close hand press up.

Bent over rows
Fat man pull ups with rings to make it as vertical as possible.
Stealing the poundstone curls from PWN.

If the weather holds I will be doing evebtvday in the garden.
250kg yoke 20m and turn. 190kg dead lift reps in 75, 80kg axle over head reps in 75

GOAL! Finished the Kroc Simple DL plan! Deficit DLs and trap bar, 14 weeks… whew! Pretty sure this is a program PR
Will test next week to see if it was worth it.
