The pats are taking a beating losing players on both sides of the ball, Im not saying they wont be there in the end but with the improvement personel wise every team has made in the AFC East, I cant see one clear cut team better than the rest. It could be said every team has improved except the pats. Football has truly become a year round sport.[/quote]
What hit on Offense? Please don’t say Vereen when they’ve re-upped Bolden and Bush,Spiller, Thomas amongst others are still out there.
Defense for sure since Revis (or any quality shutdown CB) allows a team to play differently on D.
I agree that NE has taken a ‘step back’, but not because of their offense.

Wilfork bolden revis , why quote “step back?” Your mentioning it like that’s not a big deal
I guess you can afford to scoff at losing all those players because of your teams history, but let’s not make it seem you lost “practice players.”
Why doesent Vereen count ? If bolden was so good why didn’t he play over Vereen? What the hell has he proved? Who is your running backs? As Ridley and blount are FAs I think as well.
But hey you signed Brandon Gibson … Cool

Well I don’t think Vereen was as big of a piece of the offense that you consider losing him as ‘taking a beating’. Blount is under contract, Gray runs violently and there’s a mix of guys out there still in FA if they still want to upgrade (I don’t think they need to).
Vereen wasn’t an every down RB when Ridley went down early this year so it doesn’t alter the offensive strategy in the least.
As for ‘step back’, it’s exactly that. NE’s D will (likely) be the same D they played in 2013 when they went to the AFC Championship game (and got their a$$ handed to them by Denver), Cover 2 bend-don’t-break.
I love Wilfork as a Patriot but we lost him for the season in 2013 and we still went 12-4 (8-4 without him) and made the AFC Championship.
Revis hurts because we can’t play that Press D that was awesome down the stretch last year. No argument there.
I don’t know how Browner fits into the Cover 2 type of D they’ll likely play though. He’s a press type defender and that’s not round hole-round peg in Cover 2.
So my ‘step back’ is to 2013.
The rest of the AFC East has made upgrades but I’m not losing sleep over Cassel and Fitzpatrick; maybe a little over Suh and Wake though.
