2015 Contest Prep/Training Log with Team Wilson Natural Bodybuilding

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to post about my latest training video before my power day today–featuring strong as fuaark Derek Pope and Cliff Wilson! 12 days out from the meet and excitement is definitely high! Only place to go from here is PR city baby!

Didn’t get to watch the video, but in looking at the progress pics you threw up on the 31st, I’d say you’re in a good place.

Maybe I missed it, but did you mention an actual contest date yet?

NGA Heart of America Natural Classic Bodybuilding and Figure Championships (05-02-2015)

OCB Midwest States (11-21-2015)
NGA Pro/Am Titan Classic (06-??-2015)
Great lakes Supernatural Muscle Classic XXII (10-??-2015)

Thoughts as of late and prep update:

Hey all,

I just wanted to give all of those who are following along a little update on the prep thus far. Daily macros have stayed the same at: Protein 205/ Carbs 250/ Fats 52. High days are at 195/410/52. Overall strength has been maintaining and even getting better (surprisingly enough). The meet that Iâ??ve been training for these past two months is coming up on the 17th and Iâ??m absolutely ecstatic about it! My goal total for the meet is at 1150 lbs raw but most of my second attempts will be PRâ??s at an all-time low weight of 145.5 lbs. â?¨â?¨One thing that Iâ??ve definitely noticed is that my motivation is on the rise the closer we get to the stage.

For many, they tend to feel like crap either because their testosterone is going down or the psychological turmoil of a prep really gets into their heads. I donâ??t know what it is about me that is helping me bull through this prep but all that I know is that I want it to stay with me and even get stronger the closer we get to the stage. But thatâ??s the thingâ??this motivation that many competitors have to through something as stressful as a prep is not something that every person has within them. Hell, to go furtherâ??to even track food intake and lift consistently is something that many donâ??t have within them.

Thatâ??s why I truly believe competitors are a completely different breed. Weâ??re out to seek the best possible version of ourselves and proudly put in on display for all to see. The tireless hours in the gym, sweat, tears, failures, triumphs, and meticulous tracking of food intake day in and day out would all be worth it when it leads to that final package. The mental anguish that we take on to get our bodies to where we want them to be and the physical fight we put up against our bodies to get there is something tremendous to think about. To get every ounce of body fat off is a struggle that not only is affected by our psycho-emotional healthâ??but also our strategy to oust it physically and through dietary measures.

All in conjunction makes the difference and with balance between them all will we get the finished product. â?¨â?¨A completely different breed. Competitors are admired by many because of the willingness to go leaps and bounds to create and sculpt the masterpiece that has been cultivated through their time in the gym and in the kitchen. Thatâ??s not to hold them above any other human beingâ??but rather to set them apart in a way because of the struggle they put themselves through to become what they want to become; a work ethic unequaled. Itâ??s absolutely insane to think about if you sat down and pondered what competitors go through. All for glory and honor. All for the goal of becoming a pro. All for becoming the greatest possible version of themselves. The last, the most admirable reward.

Lol, logistics of doing that many shows aside, I’m trying to think of how much doing all of them would cost monetarily…the mind reels.

Haha I know, not only travel costs but competition costs would be ridiculous. The three shows I plan on doing out of those for the sake of time, travel, and prep are probably:

NGA Heart of America Natural Classic Bodybuilding and Figure Championships (05-02-2015)
Nutri-Sport Natural Iowa (05-19-2015)
NGA Pro/Am Titan Classic (06-??-2015)

Hey guys, just wanted to share with all of you the footage from the USAPL Wisconsin State Open. As I said in the video, it was a great time and experience overall and I can’t wait for my next one! But definitely watch it til the end because you’ll see some crazy sh*t haha!

Some posing updates should be coming soon too. I’m checking in with Cliff tomorrow so hopefully we see a good drop in weight and maybe some pics to come along with it!

No but I that was the closest USAPL to me and a guy I know from a facebook group was competing in it too so I said, “Why not?”

Hey all,

I just wanted to check in with everyone to let you know how I’m doing as of late.

The training week after the meet was brutal. I know a lot of people rest after they do a full meet and now I realize why they do that. Everything, including warm-ups, felt heavy and just bad haha! Macros have stayed the same at:

P: 205
CHO: 250
F: 52

Weight has dropped pretty significantly from 145.5 on meet day to 143.8 this past Tuesday. It’s getting to that point where I definitely feel lighter and leaner too. One of the biggest indicators of that, to me, was that my lever belt is really starting to grind against my hip bones when I squat. Instead of being locked in where the abdominal fat is/was–it’s really just sitting on top of my hip bones.

All in all I feel pretty good and I’m getting really antsy as far as wanting to compete is concerned. By doing that powerlifting meet–I’ve acquired a taste for competition and the feeling you get from it. It’s absolutely insane and I just want it again soon. I realize now why and how some people compete year after year. The one thing, though, that is in the back of my mind is how strength will be once I’m show ready.

One of the events on my agenda is Raw Nationals this year and even though bodybuilding takes precedence over powerlifting–I really want to do well at Nationals and beat my numbers from this last meet (at least on bench and deadlift). I’ve also recorded a posing video that I’ll probably be posting soon and really would love some feedback! Thanks for the support and I’ll check back in soon with that video!

Here’s the latest posing video

Damn starting to cross over into the rough. That always sucks. What kind of meal frequency do eat at? I’ve found larger, less frequent meals with lots of vegetables can really help when cals get lower

Great progress thus far dude

Hahah right?! Thing is, I really don’t mind it. I’m just being playful. I’ve been through a lot worse so this is cake in comparison.

As far as frequency is concerned–I eat every three hours or so but it’s usually something that is voluminous until later in the evening when I pick and choose little goodies to fill in the rest of my numbers for the day. But I agree, when cals get lower, I think your method may be the way to go lol

Just wanted to post a video of where I am lately in my training and dieting. It’s a long one but a good one.
