Hmmmm, I wrote a lot more than I remember. My points are pretty spot on…
My whole point is- Adrian Peterson doesn’t really seem to understand that what he did is above and beyond but I don’t think he did it out of a sort of malice. I don’t think the man should be crucified for what he thought was ok based on his upbringing. His own mother came to his defense about how what he did wasn’t terrible. I truly belief he just simply doesn’t know any better. I’ve been saying it since the story first broke but Peterson is gonna get shit on b/c of the whole Ray Rice debacle.
The best way the NFL should handle the Peterson case is to suspend him for a bit and have him take mandatory classes to learn better parenting practices. The suspension will show that the league cares and will hopefully quell the media and extremist outcry. The classes will hopefully help him understand that what he did was excessive (note I didn’t say wrong- I think some form of punishment is acceptable). And then have Bob Costas do another long rant about child abuse and all the other BS he can spew with his 5 minute soap box on SNF.
I hate Costas for that stupid Redskins speech he gave during SNF last season.

Fuck the NFL. I’d be happier with a sissy European soccer tie than this kind of tiebreaker. Great job winning the coin toss Seattle.

At least its better than the play for the FG rule. At least this way you can say that the D was given the opportunity to actually show up, which they didn’t. I mean, if your D cant stop a team from running the ball down their throats, do they really deserve to win? With that said, I agree with you.

Too cut down on the number of ties and also it doesn’t fit in the tv schedule as well that way. Personally I would like to see it as a Seattle gets the ball, scores TD, Denver has to score a TD to keep the game going and they keep the back and forth going like that.

There’s no perfect way to break a tie. And it used to be just a field goal. All Denver had to do to get the ball back was hold Seattle to 79 yards. They didn’t; they lost. Tough tittie. And its a god damn shame you had to invoke the name of the game that shall not be named in this holiest of threads. I expect better from you csulli.

I can see that being a good alternative.
I have always believed the College OT system is far far superior. And besides leads to much more dramatic finishes. Can’t stand the NFL OT system

No.
Sorry bout that. I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in, I certainly don’t want this thread to derail into that. That said I have one more comment below and then I’ll stay far away from the parenting issue. I do really hate to see Peterson, who is a fundamentally good guy, crucified like this. Can’t stand it.

I completely agree. I think at 4 years old you’re not quite doing anything bad enough to warrant 15 ticks, but I also don’t want anybody getting even more down other people’s throats about their parenting abilities–the minute we have mob/media/gov’t rule of that last bastion of family control you no longer have any semblence of decision making over your own life and your family’s. I despise that above all but that is a PWI rant for another time.
Peterson is a fundamentally good guy, family man, raised hard. My parents were raised hard too. They’re two of the best, most loving, and most honorable people I know. I couldn’t ask for a better set no matter how many times I got beat lol. And that is what people need to STFU about. Old school (in this case yeah I think excessive but not evil or wrong) isn’t necessarily bad just because it offends people’s delicate sensibilities.
And again I’ll state loudly and clearly I don’t know the details of the case, I don’t know the history, so I could be dead awful wrong. I’m just speaking of the general illustrative case.

Disagree with you here for the same reasons above in my borderline PWI rant nonsense. Who’s to say “better”? But regardless we both agree he shouldn’t be crucified unless he does something worse or it comes out he’s smacking his kid in the face, etc. etc. and then he of course should be crucified. And we both despise Costas and I don’t want to hear him mouth off about shit that doesn’t have anything to do with the game we were watching. Maybe I should take the switch to HIM lol.
That was my last comment usmc. Now I’m going back to praying for my Chiefs to get better and healthier in time to salvage the season lol.
Geno - He should have thrown 4 interceptions if the Chicago secondary was any good (sans Fuller). Some horrible decisions, I want to root for the guy, but the throws he did make were throws any average QB could make against a poor secondary.
Play Calling - Assinine, 1-6 in the red zone, giving Geno the ball to be a power runner makes no sense, went away from the run too early. My boy Ivory who runs harder than any RB in the game was destroying Bear defenders. Please no more wildcat.
Refs -2 horrible calls (offensive pass interference and whistle on the sack and fumble) were obvious, HOWEVER the Jets still should have won. Off the fumble three and out. The Jets cannot get a turnover or a big play for a stop.
Rex - Do we really need to Blitz EVERY FUCKING PLAY? Our D line is awesome, to the point where its just not necessary. Tressman knew this and had what seemed like 12 players on the Oline.
The chants of Vick starting our in full force…as much as I loathe Vick, the stupid decisions of Geno is wearing thin, even with me.

Yeah, they should have let the fumble play out. I don’t know why that’s not SOP on all fumbles like that.
The PI call was horrendous.
The hit on Kerley in the endzone that was called Unnecessary Roughness just made me sad that the NFL has come to this.

Agreed on all counts. My biggest fear is Vick stepping in & doing no better. Rex preaches the ground & pound & he allows Marty to get away from it. Rex’s balls need to drop a little & let him know what’s what. Just like he did w/Schotty. Ivory should be getting 25 carries a game. & that fuckin’ Amaro droppin a ball that anyone coulda caught is frustrating. Glad to see Cumberland back, time to get him in the groove.
But by far, my BIGGEST concern is the health of Wilkerson. Fingers crossed he has no tears.

Luckily it seems as if its not serious just a contusion. I agree with Vick, while at this point he is better short term for the Jets, one thing he does as well if not better than Smith is make stupid decisions and throw to the other team.
