2014 NFL Thread II

Sorry for the cryptic post’ on phone.

Trestman to Ravens as OC.

Marone to Jacksonville O-line coach makes me snicker just a little bit. Not because I think he was wrong to take the money and run. But because the Bills O-line was horrendous the last 2 years (and it’s not like he was busy coaching the rest of the team - he’s actually an excellent delagator, but the line was his baby).

It’s beginning to look like that. Could anyone see the NFL keeping the Patriots out of the Super Bowl? I think it’s possible and this is why. If the Pats are found to have intentionally deflated the balls there is no way of ever knowing how much that could have affected the game and I don’t think the league can look at the outcome of the game and say “Well the Patriots would have won anyway.” If they allow the Patriots to play and hit them with just a fine, the NFL sends the message that cheating in big games will only cost you a fine. This postseason has been a clusterfuck.

They would never cancel the Superbowl.

I think you’ll see fines handed down and maybe suspensions if they can actually pin the offense on someone.

Holy crap. The fans here have been loyal as long as I can remember, dating back to 1976 when they were an expansion team. So many losing seasons and heartbreaks it hurts to think back over the history. And this is pretty much the first year–including last year–that the Seahawks have gotten any respect whatsoever from the national press. And they deserve some respect because they earned it. [/quote]

Not just the seahawks but all of our franchises. The mariners were a rollercoaster when i was a kid from 1995 on. I don’t even want to talk about the sonics. Sounders FC is good, but its just not mainstream enough for everyone to get into. The hawks are all we have now really, I understand the fans are obnoxious sometimes but who can really blame them, or call them fairweather fans? The seahawks really came up at a time when we had lost everything else

I’ve had to stop reading about Deflate-gate, because I can’t handle seeing any more comments from people who seem to think that footballs actually weigh 12LBS and the Patriots won because their balls were literally 2lbs lighter.

I thought I saw that the rule also provided for the penalties for violations: fines and draft picks. And, you are right, there is no fucking way they are canceling the Superbowl. Push declares Obama the greatest President of our generation and volunteers for Pelosi’s re-election campaign before that happens.

This is why I stay away from the comments sections of blogs.

Fines at the most, and Push still helps Hellosi get reelected.

It really shouldn’t be that big a deal. If it was, the NFL wouldn’t have the teams providing their own footballs…

As for the fine, what was the fine like on Tomlin last year?

Think they talked money plus draft picks at that time too.

Can anyone explain how the home team has to have the balls for the game ready two hours before game time for the refs, they must provide pumps for the refs and the refs need to weigh the game balls before the game yet the balls were deflated? Could it possible have been the downpour and changing air pressure from the atmosphere?

0_0 really?

its not the deflating of the balls thats the issue, the issue this is the second time the same team has been caught “cheating.” Say whatever you want but this taints the success of the Patriots to a certain extent. Did it matter in this previous game, probably not but the idea that one of the most successfull football franchizes in the modern era has now been caught twice doing unscrupulous shit means something to me.

This Joey Porter interview holds even more creedence now…

You could argue that but the same pumps and scales that are provided by the home team are also the ones used by the visiting team. And as of now there were no problems with the Colt’s footballs.

This coudl really get bad for the Pats and I know most haters will be putting a big fat asterisk next to their name if they win the SB. I have 2 questions that still need answered though:

  1. If this was discovered at half time, what changes were made and if none, why not? The Pats outscored the Colts 28-0 after the half. Were they using corrected footballs? That would negate any debate about if the Pats could have beat the Colts without cheating.

  2. Aaron Rodgers openly admitted he has the game ball pumped up to help him get a better grip on the ball. Essentially Aaron Rodgers admitted to cheating and therefore shouldn’t a punishment also be coming down on the Packers?

We still have to hear what Bellichek has to say today but it certainly doesn’t look good. Those calling for a SB forfeit are laughable and those calling for the Colts to be given the W and then allowed into the SB are also out of their minds. I certainly hope there is a good explanation but if there isn’t they will definitely expect to lose money and then possibly picks. Not sure why the Packers would not be in the same boat though…

So therefore the Seahawks previous suberbowl win is bunk then because that defense loves ot get popped for PED’s?

Or Rodger’s telling Sims, and Sims announcing on air that he likes to over-inflate balls beyond rules?

Of Panthers illegally heating balls in the Vikings game and no punishments handed out?

Look, when it comes down to it, if this was intentional, it’s pathetic. But to sit here an act like the other 31 teams are Ward Cleaver and the Pats are Sith Lords is pretty silly.

lmao… Yes. The Pats held Indy to 7 fucking points because of ball inflation.
