Ya, I think Stafford is 0-22 against winning teams or something crazy like that. They showed the stat during the game and I couldn’t believe it.
0-18 on the road, something absolutely insane like 3-32 overall.
That’s craziness.
I dont think its fair to put it all on Stafford, his team also lost those games.
As Matt Ryan pointed out on Count Down, only the coach and qb have a win loss record. So it’s fair to say that about Stafford; although, I whole hardheartedly agree with you in spirit.
It is the game today I know. But Detroit has a good QB the kid can play. I get frustrated with fans who think the next Brady is in the next draft all we have to do is draft him
Of course the QB is important, but I am sick of QB’s continually claiming all the credit and shouldering all the blame. There are 11 guys on the field at a time and its a quintessential team sport.
It’s not just on the players either. The fact that the Lions aren’t putting up points this year is on the coaching staff. Stafford has his weaknesses, and some of that comes from playing on teams where it’s him, Calvin Johnson, and 51 tire fires, but he also has some real strengths too, and I don’t think they were used well this season. If I’m the Lions GM my first question this season to Jim Caldwell this off season is “You have Reggie Bush running, and Matthew Stafford throwing to Calvin Johnson, and Golden Tate. How are you NOT scoring 30 points every game?”

I really, really miss Golden Tate playing for the Hawks.

The fact that Calvin was only healthy for maybe 4 games has a little to do with that. But I agree with the overall premise of your statement. Golden Tate is the perfect WR2. All the skill of a WR1 but just doesn’t have the physical size to take a D’s best shots but you give him a little room and he will burn you.

But even with that improvement, and a good defense, and a crew of offensive weapons, he was something like 1-5 this season against winning teams.
In his defense those weren’t just winning teams this year. They lost AT New England, AT Greenbay, AT Arizona, AT Carolina, and now AT Dallas. Their only home loss came against Buffalo in a game where Megatron sat, and they missed field goals against a top 5 defense, and lost in the last few seconds. Granted the Arizona game was the week after Palmer got hurt, so that shouldn’t have been as tough, but still those teams are no joke to visit, and they did beat Greenbay in Detroit to split the season.
Edit: Just want to add that loss to Buffalo was also against a team with a lot more familiarity than most opponents will ever have thanks to Schwartz. Fun fact: Buffalo went 4:0 against the NFC north this year. Could not have picked a better year to hire that guy. lol.

New England here we come!
Missing Bell had little to do with it. Baltimore showed up to play; Pittsburgh didn’t. They were undisciplined (typical “Bad Steelers”) and got beat on both sides of the ball.
I was impressed by Ngata and Williams in the middle, Suggs’ quad INT, Joe Flacco as the best playoff QB in the NFL, and Justin Forsett. Baltimore played a very solid game.
The Steelers did the opposite. They won TOP in the first half by almost double, yet only managed 3 FGs. That is losing football, especially for the #2 offense in the league.
I think the Ravens should be regarded as the AFC favorite now, since we all know they can beat both New England and Denver on the road in the playoffs. As much as I would hate to see John Harbaugh get another ring, I think his team might get him one.

I meant if that play had happened to the Cowboys, I would be able to take the flag being picked up(would be pissed) but I would be freaking out that the flag was picked up with NO explanation.

Wow that was random and interesting spin on things.
Detroit fan?
Nope. Tony romo just strikes me as a pretty boy with the body of a stay at home dad with no in home gym. I’ve seen him fall over and get sacked after a fingernail grazes his hip.
What are some of romos accomplishments? Why has he been the starting qb year after year? What accolades does he have that would warrant keeping the starting position for so many years?
I’m not a football expert (fuck I don’t even get ESPN!), or any type of expert really. It’s just what I have noticed over the years through casually glancing at the tv every Sunday during the winter.
Romo suffered a broken rib and a fractured back this season after having surgery to repair a herniated disk in his back last year.
Romo has the second highest career qbr in nfl history.

That’s just the way it is. The dumb bandwagon fans here in San Diego blame Rivers for the losses all the time. The guy literally takes a beating because the offensive line is so terrible.

Sea over Car- I like the idea that a team with a bad record made it in and played upset (sort of- Ari was a sinking ship) but I don’t think they can take it to Seattle. This is the only easy call. Lynch and Wilson combine for at least 150yds and 2TDs on the ground alone.
Man, even that one isn’t a sure thing. I wouldn’t put anything past Carolina. Obviously the smart money is on Seattle, but I think those 2 teams are more similar than any Seahawk fan will ever want to admit. Defense vs defense, Newton vs. Wilson. IMO this game could be one kick return touchdown away from a huge upset. That 13-9 game was not a fluke.
That was back in October when SEA wasn’t full strength. Cam doesn’t look good and I don’t see JStewart doing anything crazy against Seattle. ARI run D had been pretty bad the last few weeks and it made Carolina look better than they are currently. SEA D >> CAR D. I’m confident in this call.
I would have preferred playing DET and I anticipate a tough game. CAR matches up well with the Hawks. That said, the bye week is big and Seattle is almost now at full strength. They will probably get center Max Unger back as well. SEA had almost 1/3 of their starters out during that rough stretch early to mid season and many of them key starters. I am cautiously optimistic about a Seattle victory this weekend.

Ya, no doubt. The Steelers looked bad on offense and not much better on defense. Imo, they abandoned the run to early though and Bell could of opened things up. The Raven’s God awful secondary was able to play better because the run game absent so early on and Ben didn’t take enough chances down field. I honestly expected the entire game to look like the pass to Brown after the fumble. It was for what 40-50 yards? There was really no reason for the Steelers to have less than 400 yards passing/receiving on that secondary.

I mean a broken rib and fractured back ? Make no mistake, breaking limbs is one thing, but having your torso fucked with is MUCH worse.
It hurts to live life with broken ribs, let alone running around throwing the ball and running for your life.
He is in Texas
I had alot of fun in Dallas when we played Texas Tech in the Cotton Bowl in 1995. Deepellum (spelling?) was a blast, and there are some seriously hot women in Texas. I remember an ice skating rink inside a mall over there.
We got to practice at the former Cowboy stadium, have to say there was something badass about that place. I even tried to see if I could rip up a small piece of turf, no dice.
Redskins hire McCloughin as GM. This is pretty big for this organization but I’ll wait to get excited until I see what we do with the draft. If we can bring Wade Phillips in too as DC I would be hoping for at LEAST 6 wins but more like .500 or better
