A post from a friend of mine who was there, his gf got 4th in the deadlift.

"One other thing i was REALLY disappointed in was the gear. Since the very second i read about this new class and that it allowed knee sleeves i was pissed. All the idiots lined up in defense ov the knees sleeves, using all the same idiotic defenses they use to justify knee wraps, but i wasn’t buying it. Well, not only was every single thing i predicted right, but it went even further. The knee sleeves rule is fucking BULLSHIT. At this meet, the very first one, lifters were getting AT LEAST 30lbs carryover from these things. Every single lifter using these things (about 95%) had the extra small womens sleeves. There were modified (cut and sewn much smaller) sleeves. There were sleeves worn backwards. There were doubled up sleeves. There were lifters wearing wraps under sleeves. One lifter (the aforementioned Russian chick actually glued the sleeves to her legs. One lifter (that i saw anyways), an Eastern European heavyweight, actually had two other handlers/coaches pull his sleeves up for him they were so tight. One asshole in the 120 or 120+ class was actually wearing small women’s elbow sleeves… Nobody caught any ov this, save a few modified ones. That, and EVERYONE was wearing them. Why? because they felt they needed to to compete. How is this ANY different than wraps…??? By next year if this ridiculous farce is allowed to continue i guarantee you that lifters will be getting 50lbs carryover from sleeves. Not everyone, but if even ONE does it then the lot is fucked. I learned enough to be the first one to do it, i swear.

Apparently, said the reps at the gear vendors tables, there are no extra small sleeves in stock right now because the Russian heavyweights have been buying them all. I wont even get into the idea ov Titan and Inzer making IPF-legal knee sleeves specifically designed for carryover… and there is a LOT they can get away with within the rules.

One SHW squatted 127lbs more than he deadlifted. He was so obviously using gear it was ridiculous. Had he been deformed, injured, or had a bench so ridiculous as to explain a ‘poor’ deadlift then sure, i’d give him that, but no. He lifted “raw” with a multi-ply squat/dead ratio. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight…

Fucking powerlifters… for people supposed to be so fucking strong they are the first in line to cheat. What a fucking joke. In my opinion, almost every single squat done in this new IPF “raw” division should have an asterix beside it. The IPF “raw” division is a FAIL. "

damn krazy larry that shit sounds complete nuts, they have to ban those knee sleeves then if people use them as wraps. Keep the wrist wraps , and ban the knee sleeves seems to be the only solution.

You mean, people competed in a sport and cheated to try to win? I thought these things only happened in multi ply powerlifting. If your friend is not naming names then he is just s sore fucking loser and a liar.

I have seen some shady things going on at meets before, I just don’t bitch about it.

fedosienko is a fucking beast

Interesting about the knee sleeve trend. I have extra small rehbands because I’m extra small. But a few years ago, a guy at a meet asked if he could borrow my sleeves when I was done lifting. I said “sure.” He wasn’t extra small, for sure. Guess he was just ahead of his time.

I lifted in the -120 class, it was awesome. There wasnt much chat about the knee sleeves among the competitors, I didn’t use them and most seemed to agree that no one was really getting anything out of them. The stories above seem wildly exaggerated. Great athletes in all classes and some really good battles throughout the week. The Americans seemed to struggle quite widely on depth for some reason.

Your friend sounds like he is full of shit.

I’m always amazed at how Joe Blow Asslicker always seems to see/hear/know more than the actual judges and guys running the meets…same type of guys saying they are in the bathroom while guys are sticking needles in their ass, watching guys give secret money handshakes to referees, and the like…

Weird how none of it ever seems to be substantiated outside of the wildest imaginations.

You guys… This is IPF “CLASSIC”… Classic powerlifting actually had knee wraps! Thus, I like having the knee sleeves because old knee wraps didn’t do anything compared to what you can find these days so perhaps sleeves are a reasonable replacement.
