Thanks, Bdog. Nice vid. Think we all stopped worrying bout hijacking each others threads a long time ago.
Pissy, bitchin, ramblin, complainin, post. Yawl can skip it, won’t make much sense. Just usin this place to get rid of a little left over whining.
Some days just suck an you see that mean ole black dog sniffin round just waitin to sink it’s teeth in you. You feel all that’s good goin south and know even poppin smoke wouldn’t bring no help cause all done gone on ahead of you. Seen enough of the world’s shit and waded through a lot of it. Life is real good now, figure I earned that. But every now an then when you get lazy something comes up, like every 9/11, and that mean feelin comes and says leave it all and dive right back in the shit. Guess it’s a good thing I’m too old and no one’ll take me no more.
Went swimming in the middle of the night, not sure how far, real long ways. Out swam all them hoodoo. Got home and sat in the water with my dogs and watched the sun come up. Dogs understand these things real good and the fantome scared of mine. Can’t stay in a bad mood when they give you the wet tongue. Went to church real early with some brothers and lit candles. Big brother Remi whipped up breakfast at his place and all was good again.
If you got this far, have a good day.

I hear ya older brother! we all have our own black dog that comes around now and again.
Finally finished my extremely sophisticated standards so I could practice the weight over bar and sheaf toss at home. Nothing but the finest left over scrap lumber was used in it’s construction. Hopefully I’ll surpass it’s 17’ soon and need to weld me a real set this winter. Showing off my farmer’s tan with the inagural throw of the 56# at a stratopheric height of 8’.
Your photo reminded me of a HS football nightmare.
“OK running backs, now score against the guy between the poles. Never mind he will knock your ass into tomorrow with the weight in his hand then crush your spine with his fingers, just run through him.”

I get that Harry, a few years ago a boy who I sort of helped mentor went out and joined the Corps and I had a bit of time where I felt like I had to go back because they were sending these kids into god knows what. I talked it over with my wife and she had my back but I could see what it would cost her so I stayed in the rear with the gear.
Besides what the hell would a washed up infantry E-5 do these days?
Great training Harry. Can’t imagine the nightmares any of you guys that have seen combat have. Glad a good swim and family time got your mind back to a good place.

That’s looking great! Would love to have to room the do things like that.
We practically have free lot, “just” need to trow a house on to it… but the wife are having non of it, she hated living in the countryside as a kid… and she won’t go back so I’ll just keep dreaming.
Played middle linebacker in HS OP. Loved me some runnin backs comin through the line.
Joe, felt so guilty when I got out and wasn’t going to the hot spots anymore. I did the full 30 so couldn’t go back in.
I understand where you’re coming from Schmidt. If I had my way I’d be so far out in the woods they’d have to pump sunshine in. Wife made me live a lot closer to town.
Steve, the good thing about being from a family where almost all the men back to my great-grandfathers have been in the military is they all understand bad days. They don’t get real excited, make sure they’re there if you need them, and it passes. Gotta be careful, though. Group hugs from 5 “big” brothers and cost a rib or two.
I think you may end up jumpin into a game yet, Wilson. Even if you don’t, throwin is very cathartic
Ok, MJ and Carl, At my last highland game I was watching William Wallace (yes, his real name) throw the sheaf. He stood almost side ways to the bar, not with his back to it, far to the front of it, maybe 15’, and didn’t have the sudden stop at the end of his throw. He threw 26’. I said, " Excuse me kind sir."(ok, it was, yo Will!) Said he wasn’t getting any where the traditional way, Lot more angel on the sheaf and it’s slung off, no sudden stop. Long story short, started at 15’ an was going over 17’ easy after a few throws.
The 1000 swings a day of the hammer the guy mentioned. Bullshit. Using my 17.5# I was working on the swing and opposing hip rythym. I got through about 15 sets of 4 winds each and said that’s enough.
Inclines on the “I’ll use every hammer strength machine in the gym but scoof at the good for only towel hanging Smith Machine.”
225x10
275x5x5
cable xovers 50x10x3
cable flyes 40x10x3
Skullcrushers
ez bar + 50,70,90,110x12
cgb using ez bar and decline bench
ez bar + 180,200,220x10
Til next Highland game it’ll be lift a day, throw a day. Really feel like I’m making some breakthroughs on technique and would like to pr on everything at the next game. Might be too ambitious.

You got a good point here. Still.
No problem with being too ambitious. It’s the ones who have no ambition that you gotta worry about.

Great training Harry. I think with this season’s results you will easily get PR’s in the next games.
I know what you mean about the too ambitious statement. With 9 games, its difficult to be at you best in all of them. It is possible though and who knows? I hope you have one of those days at your next games.
The thought on sheaf toss is interesting. I had been thinking of trying a few throws for distance, since going for height, I feel like I’m missing a major point somewhere. Maybe some distance throws would give me a feel for how to get some power into the thing.
I admire your WOB standards. I have no place to put any so H = ((16t^2 - h)/8t)^2 + h and a stopwatch are my temporary standards. Very precise, but gives you no feel for placement and its only as accurate as your timing on hitting the stopwatch.
