Yeah, they don’t screw around in Alabama, you know, that’s where Kaz is from, too. On a side note, there are some weaker folk there too, I grew up there as well, heh.
Thank you gentlemen. Ogre, been to Kaz’s first gym in Auburn and have actually met him several times. He got rid of that one, scuttlebutt says it went to wife # one, and opened another in Opelika. Think he was originally from Wisconsin. Do like the Alabama girls, though.

Suppose to be beautiful weather tomorrow. Some of the youngsters called so gonna try to get some throwin in at the High School after work.
very inspiring- story and training
thank you Harry.
This is a great log, man, some very impressive stuff, hopefully you can give me some pointers.
A few pages back you did shoulder pressing you said shoulders up I believe, what do you mean by that?
Thanks in advance.
Damn, two New Yorkers in one day. I feel down right metropolitan.
Thanks Kevin, much appreciated.
Matty, “shoulders up” just means I’m doing presses, taking the weight at shoulder level from a squat rack, as opposed to power clean and press or clean from floor, then press.
Beautiful day, clear, no wind, 77 degrees.
Threw with the high schoolers after work. Problem with working with HSers is every boy who’s watched throwers on you tube thinks learning the rotaional shot method is their road to an immediate olympic berth. “Let’s learn to hold the shot first, ok?”
After throwing, hit the river. Still cold and running a little fast but did get in a fast 600m.
Back in gym tomorrow.

With wind temp at 77, I’ll be the river was still cold. Usually 77 wind would mean, what 58 or so water? I’m no longer young enough to swim in that kind of temperature. I’m impressed.
bump
Regale us with some words of wisdom, and a tale or two.
Don’t know about regaling PG but here’s my latest story. Have plenty of time for the next few days so hopefully I can get caught up.
The following contains absolutely no mention of lifting, throwing, physical culture, or swimming.
19 Mar, 1545 (checked my watched) finishing my route and perpared to head back to post office. Twinge in left side, towards back. Took 5 minutes to get back to shop, couldn’t stand up straight. Self says “shit Kidney stone, they pass, I hear.” (never had one before) Get off, get to my truck, pain is intense, nausea. Drive myself to the nearby Emergency Room (Trauma Center, if you please,)
After a brief 2 hours, I’m seen by a doctor, who finally hits me with some miracle drug, the world turns fuzzy, and the best feeling in the world, the absence of pain, comes over me.
CT Scan and Xray, yup, stone, 6mm, but supposedly can pass. Perocet and I’m on my way home still buzzing from the miracle drug.
Get home, it’s 20 Mar, so I’ve survived another year and am now 56 years old. Guess a kidney stone was just my bodies way of saying Happy birthday. Discussing the days upcoming festivities when I start to get a familiar feeling. 1-2 every 4-6 hours for pain became 6 in 6 hours and didn’t do a bit of good. Back to The trauma Center. Another set of xrays, stone ain’t moved hardly at all. Time I get home this time it’s not my birthday nomo. Gave me Lorcet this time and Flomax to make the urine run faster and push the stone out.
21 Mar, go to bed, hour later, “ah shit” and back to my favorite place. My niece, a nurse practicioner (APRN), takes matters into her own hands and finds the hospital’s on call urologist and gets him to come see me. “that sucker ain’t coming out on it’s own. It’s gonna infect the whole kidney soon, too.”
Boom, admitted to a room, surgery scheduled next morning.
22Mar, “You do this with ultra sound, right.”
“Yours is too low for that, we have to put in a tube and break it up,”
“You mean you cut a whole in my side, right, right?”
“Well, you’ll be asleep…”
“How are you getting there”.
“Through the penis.”
I don’t care how brave you think are, that shit sends a chill up the spine.
Oh yeah, and they leave a stent in there so everything drains real good, And so they can get the stent out there’s a line attached to it coming out the front of your stuff and taped to it. Every 30 minutes or so you get this uncontrolable urge to urinate, which you will do, whether you want to or not. I get that “pulled out” (thats sounds real fun) this coming Wednesday.
So I’m pretty much sitting/laying/loafing around waiting for Wednesday. Dropped some weight during the whole thing cause I couldn’t even think about eating. Making up for that now.
Sorry to hear that Harry, take care of your self and pass the time flirting with pretty nurses.
Man, Harry thats an effed up birthday. Hang in there bro. I would rather they go through my eye socket than my penis hole…damn.
edit…harry correct me if Im wrong didnt you say you drink alot of diet soda, I heard that drinking soda can cause stones…if it wasnt you…my bad.
you’re right. when I read that, I broke into a cold sweat. I’ve had a catheter up there, a long time ago, but it is definitely something you don’t forget.
well shit, happy birthday still, hope you take a moment to celebrate it properly when you’re all better.
heal faster
I couldn’t read the whole thing. Sorry, feeling a little squeamish. But the traiing above looked awesome as always Harry.
Don’t know what to say, but I’m sorry you had to go through that. With a start like that, year 56 has nowhere to go but up.
Harry,
I’m glad they finally got you in to see a doc who didn’t have his head stuck up his, well, you know…
I hope everthing comes out all right. You’ll feel a slight pressure…
BTW, happy birthday. I hope the rest of your year is a whole lot better.
Sorry to hear about the problems. Wish I could say the pain’s all over, but you haven’t got the bill yet…
Sorry to hear about the urinary business. I immediately thought you’d had one of those fish swim up your “manhood” from swimming in your river.
My geography’s not great but I’m pretty sure it’s the Amazon that flows through Alabama right?
Hope you’re 100% soon.
Thanks all for the birthday wishes. Soon as I can get out and do some stuff I’ll figure out some goals for this year. Trying to get my head around being closer to 60 than 50. Cest la vie.
Joe, it’s hard to do any serious flirtin when you’re in a hospital an certain parts are affect. Just takes you right out of the mood.
It was me Matty and you’re probably right. This was mentioned to me by a lot of the medical folk. It was mentioned in front of the wife, too. All sodas of any kind had disappeared from the house by the time I got home. Seems Lemonade is suppose to help though and I love that. Water, to quote the great philosopher W.C. Fields, “I never drink water, it’s the stuff fish f…k in.”
You’re right, Brett. Think it flows into the river Severn right up around Nashville. And it was a really big fish, too.
Thanks Pete, something’s are just like Kryptonite, even Superman runs from them.
Still a good year Carl and Kevin. Started it at home, surrounded by family. All’s good. Just a minor inconvenience at the start.
Cavalier, benefit of 30 years service to Uncle Sugar and a high disability rating from the VA. Cost to sponsor (me) = $0.
Daytime TV (and I guess night time, too) sucks. Got tired of watching the news on Japan and Libya. They’re evacing the dependents from the bases in Japan. Son’s knee deep with his team in the rescue operation. Did send me a E-Mail for my birthday which was the best medicine.
