2011 SPF Worlds Training Log

60 Day Challenge

28 chins
28 reverse lunges
28 push ups
28 air squats

I think the air squats are going to go because I added them and they don’t seem to be doing anything useful.

So this week will be challenging. I’m going to be lifting four straight days because my wife sold me to Ronda for the weekend to get her moved to Alabama. Its really sad when you can be bought so cheaply. I’ll have a pull up bar so I can keep the challenge going its going to be a rough few days. Lifting this afternoon if the storms don’t blow us all away.

Its storming again with that low deep thunder that sounds less like atmospheric disturbance than the wrath of Thor as his chariot rolls accross the sky or perhaps Ursa has turned from his timeless treck among the stars and, growling in his fury, prepares to face Orion who has tracked him for enternity.

There is something so very primal about these storms that remind us how very little we have changed from our ancestors. Only our thin veneer of technology and a facade of civilization, which is perhaps why we lift.

We have no great quest, no Grail to search for and most of us labor with naught to show for it but paperwork and ledger entries. If we have no monsters to strive against then we must create a foe to defeat. We need the epic struggle just as our ancestors did so that our goals become our personal Grendels and St. George our patron Saint.

^ Very nice Joe! Food for thought, and so eloquently put. Brains and braun…sigh.

Nice training! That 60 day challenge looks intense. I’d agree with getting rid of the air squats - they’re kinda, well, you know…

So…can i get your wife’s email, I need some stuff put in storage

I am likeing the 60 day challenge and when its done I think I’m going to try another modified form.

My pleasure, but part of the price includes keeping me fed and that can get costly.

Dude…you’re all swole 'n shit.

Nice 385. Your shins look more vertical at the start and you’re sitting back better so you can use you legs and ass.

I love the “Who’s awesome? I’m awesome!” at the end.

Joe, those pulls both looked good. Nice work. How much did your wife get for your slave services?

Nice pulls Joe. Always make that last rep a good one, you know, for Chesty.

It’s kinda funny that in the background there’s always somebody that flies in the face of what we’re trying to do. In this case it’s the wifebeater, glove brigade.

Nice pullin’ Joe - just watch that hitching that is starting on your 385 rep. It will get you redlighted and maybe hurt.

Yeah I wasn’t that fond of it my self I’ll have to keep an eye on it. I’ve only got one more cycle before I start pulling singles to see where I want to lift at.

A quiet weekend at home, it seems I come cheap.

nice pulling- sumo seems to work for you.

Good job Joe.

My wife is always signing me up to cook for people
or to fit things.

Nice job joe. Looks like it flew off the floor.

Good use of legs early and back late.

It was something Git said about my shins beling to close to the bar so I moved back a couple of inches and it seemed to help a lot. Still needs work but feels like I’m on the right track.
