2011 SPF Worlds Training Log

Light headed isn’t good. I hope you feel better already!

Do you have t-bar row machine? If not, do you count the bar weight in the total poundage?

Nope, all of mine are ghetto style. Since I’m not lifting all of the bar I just count the plates.

Training is really in high gear. THE World’s, huh? Outstanding. Hope all goes well with the biopsy.

Who is this Larry? I apologize for taking so long to tell you that you did a great job. Judging from your current training, you’ve gained a ton of squat confidence.

That was a great day for you.

Thaks Julie, but this brings up something I"ve meant to ask you, Sanp and all the folks who compete.

I’m still struggling for depth in the gym and it makes me wonder why I it depth better at a meet than in the gym.

Its got to be a mental thing right?

I can’t answer your question. But I did notice how improved your depth was at the meet over your gym lifts. I suppose adrenaline affects everyone differently.

I told you before, you perform better in front of an audience :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes, I am a meet lifter too, always perform better on the platform.

Is it time for a reload? Is your heartrate recovering ok?

Right now I’m trying to push through 2 back to back 5/3/1 cycles so I can do my deload the week after my biopsy.

I’ve just about decided I’m going to run a Sheiko cycle this fall just to see what it’s like.

Drinking is no substitute for lifting. Nice try, though.

I’ll be following this with interest. I’ve never done any Sheiko, but I do like the Russian stuff!

There’s tons of different templates, do you know which number you’re going to do yet?

I perform better on deads, about the same on bench and tend to have trouble on depth on the platform vs. the gym. It affects everyone differently. I think the adrenaline at a meet tightens me right up which sucks for squats but the same adrenaline lets me pull well.

It’s important to start noting how meets affect you and plan for it. My first few meets I didn’t have the same issues with squats but when gear went on and the weight went up it did. I think I’m less affected on bench because it’s not my lift so I don’t expect a ton from it.

I’m going to do the Dave Bates version posted here on T-Nation.

It even has a spreadsheet which I love cause I’m lazy and all.

bench

5x135
5x170
5x195
5x225

5x195

5x10x160

Face Pulls

12x72.5
12x80
12x87.5

HS Iso Row

9x 1pps
9x 2pps
9x 3pps
7x 3pps

DB Rows

12x70
12x80

Things went pretty wek today mostly. I didn’t notice that the gym got a new Oly bar and someone had put it in the bench I grabbed. The different size made it had to focus on the lifts but I got it squared away.

New Damage pulled 495 for 2 sets of 10, bastard.

If you perform better in front of an audience than you must imagine everyone in the gym just staring while you hit the squats

keep trecking - and do like I do; lift AND drink.

And if he could time an applause track for after each lift, that would work great for him…

Well it turns out I don’t have high blood pressure after all. I must have just been irritated that day.

^Good news Joe. Never understood why Dr.'s insist on taking blood pressure right when you sit down, they should do it at the end of the visit. Who isn’t a bit stressed when they enter into a Dr.'s office, maybe it’s just me.

I believe there are different cuff sizes for different sized arms – make sure you get the correct cuff:

Googling gives me this:

                    Bicep circumference

Adult cuff 27-34 cm Up to 13.38 inches
Large cuff Adult 35-44 cm 13.7 inches to 17.3 inches
