2011 SPF Worlds Training Log

I cannot decide if I am going to lift at SPF Worlds. It just seems stupid that I would even be allowed to after two meets.[/quote]

If you qualify and you want to, why not?

I’m still trying to get in the ballpark for nationals in my fed.

Again, well done. Hitting weights you missed in practice is great work.

Hard to believe your regular squat stance is narrower than in the vids. Is it possible that your depth issues might be due to too narrow a stance? I’m no expert, but your hips need some room to be able to drop down low.

And your bench grip looks pretty narrow too -better for shoulder health of course, but a wider grip would mean bigger #s I’d imagine.

More knowledgeable lifters: please chime in if your opinion differs.

Sorry about being so late but congratulations on your meet. Very impressive PRs. I’d love a +70 lb meet PR.

I have to believe you are right about width on both lifts.

If you want to lift at World’s and they are letting you, then GO FOR IT! Why the hell not? I think you’d regret it if you didn’t. Regrets suck ass.

Thanks for the looking up tip. I’ll try it out on Friday.

Yeah Kimba I think you are right.

Yeah I can’t eat the cute little bastards anymore…

Okay so I need to add 55lbs to my total in three months. So I’m thinking 30lbs to my squat 20 to my DL and 5 to my bench.

That sounds kind of resonable. Kind of.

Squats

5x185
5x210
5x240
1x275wraps

8x155

Got winded and tired fast. Droped weight on the zerchers to get some in but today was a struggle. Will max sleep this weekend.

Good luck upping those maxes! Whats your strategy?

Nice work.

Joe I think the bench is a given
you just have to get better lift offs

and I want to guess the dead and squat work
would happen to or come really close

I bet allot of it is greasing the groove and some set up stuff

you gots the strenf

Thanks, I have slightly less than three months before Worlds so I plan on doing 2 5/3/1 cycles and then use the rest of the time to dial in my attempts. Learning to get more out of my wraps would alos be a good thing

I agree Kevin, I think I have a shot at it, which is really all anyone can ask for.

Joe congratulations on the meet results, I think you can make your goals, you’re strong enough for sure. Are you going to crank your belt a bit tighter on squat days, I think you said it made a difference in the meet?

already back at it?

looks like we have a similar game plan only I’ve got 5 months to go get it - you’re obviously the better warrior. I have a feeling you will nail this.

how was your weight in relation to your category? can you afford a couple of weeks of bacon binge to fuel the workouts?

I can in 3lbs under so I’m using calorie therapy this week to recover from the meet and then MOnday its back to eatting right.

Training the heavy walkouts is a good thing. Is that part of 5/3/1 or did you just add it in? And are you following the new 5/3/1 for PLers that incorporates heavy singles?
