2011 SPF Worlds Training Log

Congrats again on a great meet Joe! You definitely had more in you. Unfortunately you and my son were too close in the flight for me to wrap both of you, but sounds like you still got some good advice as you killed those squats. I have videos too and bench one also if you want me to upload them here.

Isn’t Jason Coker a freak! wow he almost benched as much as he squatted !!!

A few more notes. Lil Power’s son has just about the sickest arch I have ever seen. He literally puts the top of his head on the bench before he sets up his shoulders.

The search for a comfortable singlet continues.

You know a guy has done a lot of meets when he can eat pizza between benching and deadlifts.

I really envy Lil Power’s monolift.

Gatlinburg is a great place to have a meet.

Having a handler is really helpful.

Now a pic of breakfast the next morning

I’d love that.

It was great meeting you guys this weekend.

fuckin hell!
that was an awesom meet Joe - you killed it. 70lbs added to your PR shows all the work you’ve done.

breakfast looks epically yummy.

Day 1

CGB

8x135
8x185
5x205

V-bars

12x170
12x190
10x210 (+1 rep PR)

BB Shrugs

12x135
12x225
14x315 (+1 rep PR)

HS Iso-Lat Row

8x 1pps
8x 2pps
8x 3pps
5x 4pps

Standing EZ Curls

3x12x70

Gassed out towards the end. I’m redoing my last 5/3/1 cycle because it would be silly to reset my number for a meet three months away.

So I’m going to need all kinds of advice as I try to eek out more lbs in three months.

already back in the gym? dang…

That was awesome! Really enjoyed watching!!!

Oorah!

Great lifting Joe, you KILLED it!

When’s the next one?

Joe did great at the meet. You could really see that he was enjoying himself. Before we even left the hotel he was talking about his next meet
We saw alot of really strong lifters, so much so that when I went to the gym today I couldn’t help but be surprised by how small they all were :stuck_out_tongue:

Middle of September, I have no idea how much I can try to add to my numbers so I’m going to go balls out for two months and then take stock of the situation.

Does that help? Maybe I should try this. You’re going to get some funny looks at your gym.

Maybe but I’ll get a lot of attention.

Joe, if you dont mind I really want to pick your brain before my first meet, in January.

I am so happy that you did so well at that meet! Videos were awesome! I was cheering for you. Your sumo pulls looked perfect. All that hard work really paid off. Congratulations!

I’d be glad to help in anyway I can.

Remember though that Snap, Julie, Pete, MM, George, Kevin, harry etc etc have a lot more experience than I do.

I will probably have done two more meets by the end of the year but still I’m really new at this.

Oh no doubt I will be annoying them as well, but the first meet is probably fresher in your mind?

Kimba I meant to tell you this and I forgot. I think theres something about lifting in front of judge where you have to look up slightly to see his arm that makes you tilt your head back ever so slightly. That slight head tilt makes you sit back more and I think it makes a huge difference on sumo deads.

I cannot decide if I am going to lift at SPF Worlds. It just seems stupid that I would even be allowed to after two meets.

Deads

5x200
5x230
8x260
1x295
1x335
1x365
1x315
5x230
5x200

365 felt heavy and I was gassed out so I called it a day. Tomorrow is a rest day and that should get me squared away.

I believe this is the 250 bench:
