2011 SPF Worlds Training Log

Day 2

Bench

5x135
3x185
1x230
1x245
1x260*miss
1x245

5x10x155

Face Pulls

12x65
12x72.5
12x80

Kroc Rows

20x85
20x85

Felt good, felt strong and effed up 260 about 4-5 inches off my chest. No leg drive at all, I’ll get it figured out.

1x230

1x245

Nice job on the 395, Joe. I do think you set that down a little loud though. Try to be quieter next time!
And wow on the 60 day challenge - 67 chins is a lotta chins!

leg drive- do you let your lower body rest on the bench? To cue leg drive I actually barely let my but touch the bench (for reguation) and carry most of my weight in the legs.

That sounds like what Dave Tate suggests in his videos. I’m going to practice set up this weekend with just 135 on the bar.

60 day challenge

68 chins
68 reverse lunges
68 pushups

Day 4 Squats

5x135
3x185
1x225*wraps
1x245
1x275
1x305
2x245
3x225

Depth is not good, will correct. Knee cap popped out of wrap at bottom of 305 thanks to my bad wrapping.

1x245

1x275

1x295

1x305

60 day challenge

69 chins
69 reverse lunges
69 pushups

Also spent some time at the gym testing bench set up for leg drive. I might be on the verge of making some improvement.

Depth on the 245 looked like it might be ok.

The 245 would moost likely have been good, the 275 will be easy enough to get down but the others I need to work on.

Nice work Joe, I see you are still rolling towards the 60 chin thing, god bless you, I am working on eating 60 wings so I understand the hard work you’re putting in.

I always wondered about the leg drive as well, I have no idea how to use my legs when I bench but I have heard it is imperative for big numbers, once you figure it out post a video and help a brother understand.

Great work!!

not a bench master by anyshot but you can see on the pressing that my but lifts off the bench a bit. regulation states that in needs to touch some - not be totally relaxed and unused on the bench.

Joe - you wrap your self like a mummy. you need the keep the overlapping tight. I’ll try to show you what i’ve been doing…

I think I know what you mean. I’ll try and tighten it up next squat day.

60 day challenge

70 chins
70 reverse lunges
70 pushups

So its finished, I’m going to take a week off from it and then reset down to 40 and begin again.

Joe eating ribs

Do you have the hip flexibility to pull your legs back a bit further? I find it tightens things up a bit.

Those ribs look delicious.

I like your 60 day challenge. I have to admit, I haven’t been reading much lately so what was the genesis of the challenge?

It was from an article posted here. It look like a way for me to get some extra work in while not messing up my lifting. I liked it, in a way it was like having an active job.

I see Ronda is posting three month old pictures.

Joe, congrats on finishing up that challenge with style! It took alot of commitment and effort to make that happen. Nicely done.
