2010 NBA Playoffs

Whistles really blowing in that first quarter. I’d guess it is entirely because of the semi-scuffle Pierce/Artest had 20 seconds into the game(lol). Lakers fans have to be happy about the work they’re putting in on the glass in that 1st quarter, but not so happy with some of the easy shots they’ve given up on the defensive end.

This looks like it will be an awesome series if the first 12 minutes are any indication.

Tip-off’s right around the corner and I’m actually getting nervous, haha. Even if this is a 4-game sweep going either way I’ll still love every minute.

umm…no. If the Lakers get swept or even lose this series I won’t enjoy it at all. Championship or bust.

celtics getting owned by 20!!! fuck this shit! Im going outside to play b-ball.lol

I’m very happy right now.

Well LA sure took control of this one in that 3rd quarter, and they appear to have repelled that trademark “everyone in the NBA makes a run” the Celts made to start the 4th.

On to game 2 friends!

So drewh, you still think the Celts take it in 5? So the Celts are going to win the next 4 in a row?

So Kobe looked real foolish tonight guarding Rondo, eh?

Umm…Not!

Lakers looked dominant, Celtics looked dejected.

So relieved to get that Game 1 under the Lakers’ belt. That game was critical for the Lakers, more so than the Celtics. The long layoff between the Conference finals and the NBA Finals seemed to help Kobe more than anyone else. He had noticeably fresher legs and more springs in his steps.

Artest and Bynum made a big difference and Gasol is far better than he was in 2008. Someone posted earlier about how Garnett is regressing, maybe deteriorating is the better word, but that’s a good point. He’s got a lot of mileage on him. Those two layups he blew were crazy. In any case, I expect Game 2 to be a lot closer at the end and I do think the Lakers will pull it out, but it won’t be easy. But their aggressiveness tonight, and focus for most of the game, was great to see. Can’t wait for Sunday!

I am going to game 2 to celebrate my 40th birthday and bring my 9 year old son whose never been to a professional basketball game. I can’t wait!!!

Oh man I couldnt wait to get home and watch the game. Lakers looked awesome! Pau played like a man possesed out there. He and Bynum tore it up when they played together. If Bynum stays out of foul trouble and the Ray Allen keeps guarding Kobe this series will be ugly! Kobe just backs him down and once the double team came (which happened every time) Kobe dished to a big for a dunk.

Artest is earning his whole salary in this series. He D’ed up Pierce hard for nearly the entire game. None of Pierce’s bullshit swing my arms into yours and call that a shot to get the foul crap… didnt work on old Ron Ron!

Man am I relieved!

Still taking Boston and wait Rondo will have his time.

dang i wish this series was 2-2-1-1-1… that way the lakers could close it out in 5 games at home… but oh well.

That was a great game, it was worth staying up til 5:30 AM. I didn’t realise NBA games last for friggin 3 hours so I misted the last quarter. Usually I download games the day after, but yesterday I wanted to have my first NBA live expericence.

That was an AWESOME game… A bit surprised by the Celtics, but I’m sure they will step it up on Sunday. Every team has off games, I was just surprised by how demoralized they looked.

Drewh- Your avatar is AWESOME too!!! lol

Look, this is going to be a tough series for sure but I have to say after watching last night there are some obvious matchup problems for the Celtics and I really think this is the Lakers series to lose now.

The most obvious matchup problem? It’s having Andrew Bynum playing in the game for 28 to 30 minutes per game and being active as he was. He didn’t score a ton of points but his presence on defense, altering shots, and the rebounds are making it very tough for the C’s. If Bynum can play this way for 28 to 30 mins/game, the Cs are in big trouble.

The thing I liked the most about that game is that the Lakers played the tougher defense. I feel vindicated because everyone was squaking about how good the Cs defense was but wasn’t giving the Lakers credit for their own defensive prowess.

The Lakers beat the Celtics at their own game, plain and simple. I expect game 2 to be even tougher and more physical however and the Lakers have to be ready. I thought the refs called a lot of ticky tack fouls and that won’t necessarily be the case for the next game.

The versatility of this Lakers team is astonishing. They beat the Suns at their own run and gun game and now have done the same to the Celtics half court beat down style of offense/defense.

You do realize that the Lakers are 47 and 0 all time in the playoffs when they win game 1 of a series, don’t you? ;0

I’m just saying…

Another surprising thing about that game, the Lakers bench outscored, outhustled, and outworked the Celtics bench and that’s with Lamar Odom on the pine most of the night with foul trouble.

phil jackson teams are 47-0 all time after winning game 1 (not the Lakers)

but did you see the stat that Kobe is 26-0 after winning game 1 of a series (the best number of all time)
