2010 NBA Playoffs

So how about the offense in this game right now, Phoenix might hit mid 50’s in the first half and still be down 8-10.
This game is being played at a seriously intense level. I’m actually supposed to go watch the Rampage fight but might stay home and re-watch the dvr’d game again, depending on how it turns out haha.

You are out of your fucking mind if you think Magic was quicker than Kobe Bryant. You are also out of your mind if you honestly believe that Magic, Robertson or Maravich were even close to as skilled as Bryant, let alone more skilled. That you’re trying to argue this shows how little you know about ball, how biased you are or both. I can’t even believe what I’m reading.
You’re too biased towards Kobe. He’s great but way more skilled than Magic? Magic was phenomenal man, both are very skilled. I just think that a 6’9 PG that could pass the way he did and control the game was more skilled than a guy who can knock down fade away Js.

Wheres the PHX defence?

You have NO IDEA of what you’re talking about. Knock down a few fadaways? Magic could control the game 'cause he had Kareem, Worthy, Wilkes, Scott, Cooper, Rambis, etc… It’s no coincidence that when those gys got old [and Magic was in his physical prime] that they weren’t winning anymore.

Magic was phenomenal, but he was also slow for his position, couldn’t jump, couldn’t shoot and couldn’t guard his own shadow. He’s a charismatic guy who could pass the shit outta the ball but point blank he wouldn’t have near the success today that he did then.

Kobe Bryant is easily one of the top 10 athletes in NBA history. He has every offensive move in the book, plays lockdown D and is an underrated passer. Don’t get me started on Robertson and Maravich, 'cause neither of those dudes would be more than good players at your local Y today.

There’s no defense for the ball movement the Lakers have going on right now(combined with their shots going down, 57% from 3?). This is like, an instructional video on how to run the triangle to perfection. The only thing the Suns could do better is protect their glass a bit more, but even then you’re taking away a few of LA’s putbacks, it’s still an 8 point game.

All of this while Phoenix itself is shooting ~50%, and 40% from 3 because when Frye is hitting the deep ball the Lakers bigs have to respect it and open the lane up a bit for penetration. What an entertaining 1st half.

Whiteflash, can’t believe I’m saying this but I’m agreeing with getnitdone here regarding Magic Johnson. I don’t think Kobe’s even quite surpassed him yet in greatness. Jordan, Bill Russell, Larry Bird, and Magic Johnson still stand above Kobe in this part of Kobe’s career so far.

You are not giving Magic his deserved respect or place in the annals of NBA history. This guy was unbelievable and I
surprised that you are minimizing Magic’s skill level or what he accomplished.

I think the greatest Lakers are still Magic at number one and Kobe at number two. Kobe has a real good chance of surpassing Bird and Magic in the greatness category eventually but I don’t think He’s there yet. It’s Jordan that will be the hardest one to surpass and may not ever.

That’s fine, but I disagree with both of you. I really don’t see any way how Bryant can’t be considered the best Laker ever. His body of work speaks for itself, and to me clearly stands above anyone else from that orginization.

Most Laker fans disagree with you regarding Magic and Kobe. I actually think Kobe will surpass him anyways (one more ring will help) but is not quite there yet.

So disappointed in JRich right now. A few years ago he throws up a top10 play of the year type dunk after Farmar bites so hard on his pump fake; tonight he can’t even get an and1 off of it.

You can comapre Kobe to Magic when Kobe starts a Finals game at center, plays all five positions duing the game and goes off for 42 with 15 boards and 7 assists. This was also back when people actually got called for traveling.

Holy fuck this game got exciting in the 4th quarter. Dragic is a firecracker in there off the bench, he’s made a few overexcited plays but I’ll be damned if his coach doesn’t care(to a point =p) because of the boost he’s given them with said excitement.

Sigh. Once again, Magic wouldn’t be able to do that in todays game. And, Magic walked all over the place and got away with it, so don’t know what you’re talking about.

That’s because Magic brought excitement to the game [along with Bird] at a time when the league was near going under. It also seems a little fishy that one ended up on one coast, and one ended up on the opposite playing for the leagues two most storied franchises, but that’s another topic for another day.

Kobe Bryant!!!

Well that shot should about wrap this series up.

He is unbelievable to watch, makes impossible shots, and gets better in every pressure situation.

oh boy… lakers vs. celtics again… gonna be staying up late to watch that one…

This is one of Kobe’s best close out series games I’ve ever seen him play. I can’t believe the last 4 shots he made where he single-handedly beat the Suns by himself when the game was totally going the Suns way. He had 2 people in his face, twisting acrobatic fall away jump shots. Unfeakinbelievable!!!

It’s cracking me up that Charles Barkely was just in awe of his performance post game show when just about a month ago he was saying Kobe was washed up.

Dfish just made the same point that if Kobe was in a traditional pick and roll offense he would score 45 points a game easily as opposed to the triangle offense that he’s played most of his career where he still almost averages 30 points per game.

Don’t know if y’all are watching the post game wrap-up, but they just interviewed Derek Fisher. Amongst other things, he said “What people don’t understand is Kobe’s been playing in this system. If he played a more traditional NBA game with pick&rolls and iso’s, that man would average 45. Seriously.” This next series is gonna be balls out intense.
