2010 NBA Playoffs

Lebron couldn’t lead the most talented team he’s ever had out of the east coast semifinals for God’s sakes. Drewh, you can suck it big.

Lebron’s legacy just took a major hit. And Kobe’s legacy just keeps growing. Poor drewh, Lebron and the hapless Cavs. Hahahaha!!!

damn man this was honestly not the way I thought Lebron would play or the way I thought the end of that game was gonna go… They just gave up on the game at the end there. Kinda shocked actually… also looks like Lebron couldnt wait to take that Cavs jersey off at the end there.

.greg.

So where does he go NY, Chicago, NJ? Doubt he stays in Cleveland. I bet he ends up somewhere with Bosh.

Either he stays in Cleveland or goes to NY… Why would he go anywhere else? If he wants to go big market its gotta be LA or NY… Kobes in LA and Chicago already had MJ… He’s gonna stay or go NY I think

I agree, it looked like Lebron stopped playing in the 3rd quarter, and showed no emotion or leadership in the 4th.

Looked more like a peasant tonight, not a king.

I could see how it came off like that, but no I do have more respect for Kobe than that, but he CLEARLY wasn’t the ‘Jordan’ of those Lakers teams. As a unit(which isn’t the fairest way to compare it) I think it works, that Pippen/Paxson/Kukoc were there to step it up big with Jordan out(they still almost made the finals in 94, I’m not sure if Paxson was still on the team at that point though).

And if you think the argument is shot after that you just didn’t bother reading because that wasn’t really ‘my argument.’ Kobe ‘shouldn’t/couldn’t’ have been the MVP in any of those, without Shaq in the lane that team isn’t ANYWHERE NEAR THE FUCKING NBA FINALS, so fuck off with that please, unless you are ready to give LeBron the same type of credit FOR CARRYING THE TEAM ON HIS FUCKING BACK ALONE, WITH HELP IN 1 SINGLE GAME FROM GIBSON, in 06.

That’s what I keep saying. You are so quick to discredit what LeBron has done, in what is clearly the stepping stones to winning a title(the same stepping stones Kobe learned in post-Shaq LA, 'carry team doesn’t work, forcing team to be part of action doesn’t work, picking spots and putting all together: bingo we got rings baby[2 7 footers doesn’t hurt]).
Get the fuck out huh? I’ve yet to discredit James’ accomplishments. I’ve said he lacks a killer instinct, gets away with murder on the court and has been handed everything without having to earn it. Those are all FACTS. Whether you want to accept them or not is your decision.
You discredit him every time you bring up this killer instinct bullshit despite the performances I keep citing, and then you cry foul when I say similar things about Kobe(which I have been hesitant to do because I have respect for him but it’s the only way to further the discussion when you guys took it there).

But whatever, I got nothing about tonight, can’t win games if you don’t make shots, Boston stuffed the paint and said good luck, and I don’t know what the fuck those last 2 minutes were? Your season is about to end and you were down 7, howabout some fouls, or at least rush the ball up the court when you rebound that missed shot. Totally confused about that ending.

yeah definitely got a weird vibe from this game and especially in the second half. The way James was playing, not taking shots and then how he had his jersey off as soon as he hit the tunnel… maybe its just me looking too much into things but it was definitely odd.

I take issue with this bullshit. I watched every single game of every single championship season of the three-peat. Kobe Bean Bryant was an absolute MOTHER FUCKING ASSASSIN in the 4th quarter, when Shaq couldn’t do shit. If Shaq was the hammer, than Kobe was the scalpel. He was Mr. Fucking Fourth Quarter.

It always bugged me the amount of credit Shaq got for throwing his weight around for three quarters, and then relying on the “boy wonder” as he mockingly referred to Kobe, to bail his ass out.

Kobe was a cold-blooded MURDERER in the 4th quarter and when SHIT GOT REAL, when ASSHOLES STARTED TO TIGHTEN UP, Kobe was THE MAN.

Kobe Bean, motherfucker.

Lakers over Celtics in 4 this year.

Let me make my point a little clearer since you are side stepping it. Yes or no question, do the Lakers win 00, 01, 02, without Shaq on the team?

A. Not a Cavs fan so don’t care
B. LBJ isn’t even one of my favorite players I just think he’s better than Kobe
C. This Cavs team really isn’t that good
D. Who the fuck says east coast?
E. Wherever he ends up next I’m predicting here and now he not only wins a third straight MVP bur wins the finals MVP as well
F. Orlando beats L.A. if they get past Phoenix

You clearly don’t understand what “killer instinct” means. It doesn’t mean having David Stern let the refs have you outshoot entire teams at the foul line. It isn’t putting up great regular season numbers, or occasional playoff numbers only to have them mean dick at the end of the year.

It’s being a fucking cold-blooded murderer out there and digging the dagger deeper and deeper. Game 3 in Utah, the Lakers are down. Kobe comes down and drills two 3’s with ample time on the shot clock 'cause he was not going into game 4 2-1. That’s killer instinct. James had plenty of moments to make a statement tonight. He certainly made one, but it wasn’t what Cavs fans had hoped for.

This Cavs team has two other All-Stars on it. And they had the best record in the league. Like I said before, James is a hard guy to play with 'cause he’s so ball dominant.

Its basically let him dribble the air out of the ball and have your hands up if he decides to pass. Works great in the regular season, but unless he goes to a loaded team or can sign somewhere with another superstar he will never win.

I think we’re talking two different things. Is he more skilled than Bryant right now (bigger, stronger, faster)? Sure. Does Lebron have the killer instinct and have the leadership skills to lead his team to a championship? Umm, based on the results of his game. That’s a big fat no. He has the talent around him this year and couldn’t get it done.

Lebron is going home early again. Buh bye.
I’m sorry, but “skill” and “physical ability” are two entirely different things. Bryant isn’t the horse he once was, but he has a definite advantage in basketball skill over James.

I want to retort, but at the same time, this is the playoff thread which has derailed into a singular topic for 5 pages now; but Lebron is eliminated, and getting into a fight for the last word is stupid, so I’ll move on to the series that we now have set.

Celtics looked good against the Cavs, but the Magic have so many shooters that should punish their defensive style hard. I see Orlando taking this in 6, wouldn’t be shocked to see it take less. At the same time, if Rondo keeps up his level of play, and KG takes in some momentum from these last 2 games(20/10’s) this could be a very competitive series like it was last year.

Suns have matchup issues so hard inside it’s just ridiculous, Lakers should handle this series with a game or 2 of hot shooting from J.Rich and the rest of the team to stop it from being a sweep.

I don’t know how the Suns can play the level of defense they have been(which is why they’ve done so much better this season) against the tall trees of LA. Is Bynum’s knee alright(I know he didn’t practice, but they didn’t say it was anything that should threaten his game).
drewh wrote:

He won’t go near Chicago. It’s the same reason he’s changing his number from 23 to 6. It has NOTHING to do with honoring Jordan. It has to do with knowing he’ll never be the best 23 and marketing his brand. If he were really honoring the game then he wouldn’t choose 6, 'cause the best winner of all-time [Bill Russel] and the precursor to Michael Jordan [Doctor J] wore it. He’s more worried about building a business than being a winner.

For what it’s worth, this debate(fiery and enjoyable) has helped us poop on the Stanley Cup thread =p

Red, I hope you’re not taking this personally man. Just a few guys that enjoy talking ball disagreeing. Anyway, I’m having a hard time calling the ECF’s. The Magic have looked borderline unstoppable, but the Celts are playing so well as a team right now that I’m not ready to count them out. I agree that the Magic take it in 6, but I think it takes A LOT out of them.

The WCF’s are gonna be fun. The Suns have been playing really well, but not only will they have problems inside, Bryant’s gonna be focusing on keeping Richardson controlled and Fisher and the two athletes off the bench [Brown and Farmer] can give Nash some trouble. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if this is done in 5.

Oh for sure, sports talk gets heated that’s how it goes, it’s why we love it so much. If you can’t get a little fired up talking about something you don’t love it enough.
