2010 NBA Playoffs

Just leveling the playing field, you can’t be the only one who just ignores accomplishments on the other side of the debate.

Bill Simmons also called LeBron “the best player on the planet” recently. So is he a respectable journalist who’s opinion we accept, or do we throw it out?

So when Lebron really accomplishes something, oh like an NBA championship perhaps, you know, the measuring stick legends are measured by, you let me know.

Bill Simmons has admitted he dislikes Kobe and is a little biased towards him so for him to say this about Bryant’s 2001 season really says something. He admits in his book “the book of basketball” that he struggles giving Kobe his rightful throne cuz he doesn’t like him and yet he’s willing to put him in the top 8 of all time anyways.

He has had a lovefest with Lebron from the get go but if you actually read any of the links on this thread you would realize even he questions Lebron’s TMacian habit of being in and out of critical games mentally and that he also questions Lebron’s capacity to get to the upper echelon of winners.

He’s the one that actually compared him to Shaq mentally and that ain’t a good thing. He believes Lebron COULD be in the top ten of all time but his meantality is the biggest question mark; satisified biatch?

Another excellent example comparing the two players. One has a tremendous amount of post season success because of a mentality and another one who does not (yet):

LeBron surpasses Kobe as the top player: Jerry West | Reuters whaaaaaaaaat!!! Laker legend Jerry West say it ain’t so

bwahahahahahahahaha!!! suck it rand

not the kind of first half the Cavs need from LBJ. He’s gotta turn it up in the second half or the Cavs are going home.

looks like Lebrons playing with a lot of energy. He’s flying around for rebounds and loose balls but he looks really reluctant to shoot doesnt he?

.greg.

Lebrons working on the quadruple double… almost double digit turnovers… its not lookin good.

Back to back 3’s bitches.

reminds me of game 7 of the 08 series… lets see if his team can help him this time.

Anderson Verajao is playing like shit.

doesnt look like it. I thought those 3’s were momentum changers. Lebron needs to give it to shaq on the pick n roll… they’re just doubling LBJ

Red, did you honestly just compare Kobe Bryant with John Paxson, Scottie Pippen and/or Toney Kukoc? Your arguement is pretty much shot after that. Bryant didn’t “step up” during those runs. There was at least one of those 3-peat finals he could’ve/should’ve been MVP. You are really doing Bryant a disservice with the way you talk about him.
I could see how it came off like that, but no I do have more respect for Kobe than that, but he CLEARLY wasn’t the ‘Jordan’ of those Lakers teams. As a unit(which isn’t the fairest way to compare it) I think it works, that Pippen/Paxson/Kukoc were there to step it up big with Jordan out(they still almost made the finals in 94, I’m not sure if Paxson was still on the team at that point though).

And if you think the argument is shot after that you just didn’t bother reading because that wasn’t really ‘my argument.’ Kobe ‘shouldn’t/couldn’t’ have been the MVP in any of those, without Shaq in the lane that team isn’t ANYWHERE NEAR THE FUCKING NBA FINALS, so fuck off with that please, unless you are ready to give LeBron the same type of credit FOR CARRYING THE TEAM ON HIS FUCKING BACK ALONE, WITH HELP IN 1 SINGLE GAME FROM GIBSON, in 06.

That’s what I keep saying. You are so quick to discredit what LeBron has done, in what is clearly the stepping stones to winning a title(the same stepping stones Kobe learned in post-Shaq LA, 'carry team doesn’t work, forcing team to be part of action doesn’t work, picking spots and putting all together: bingo we got rings baby[2 7 footers doesn’t hurt]).
Get the fuck out huh? I’ve yet to discredit James’ accomplishments. I’ve said he lacks a killer instinct, gets away with murder on the court and has been handed everything without having to earn it. Those are all FACTS. Whether you want to accept them or not is your decision.

Complete meltdown.

I think we’re talking two different things. Is he more skilled than Bryant right now (bigger, stronger, faster)? Sure. Does Lebron have the killer instinct and have the leadership skills to lead his team to a championship? Umm, based on the results of his game. That’s a big fat no. He has the talent around him this year and couldn’t get it done.

Lebron is going home early again. Buh bye.
