Greg, I’ve been watching ball a long time and there has NEVER been a Finals game where the star player was saddled with that level of foul trouble, that I can remember. I honestly can’t think of any playoff game where the marquee player has had to sit like that.
I know right? its hard to think of even a playoff game where that’s happened much less a Finals game. (not jumping on Kobes nuts as some people in here like to say I’m just talking about ANY superstar who gets that many fouls called on them in a game)

Red, there’s no reason Kobe can’t do both. It’s entirely possible he gets 30+, 7+, & 7+ with a couple of steals and 1-2 blocks. That’s pretty much what he’s done all post season, and what he did in game 1. People need to realize that even with being saddled with foul trouble and playing inconsistent minutes he still put up 21 on 45% shooting.

I don’t disagree, we all know Kobe is capable, I’m just not predicting that huge of a night. I think the Celtics gameplan revolves around letting Gasol and Bynum(and Odom, who has yet to deliver) keep ‘beating’ them while they hope for some better games from Perkins and Garnett; and I don’t see Kobe forcing the game onto himself unless he absolutely needs to.

That said, I’ll be right here to eat up some crow if the trees don’t take their performance on the road and Kobe shoulders that load for some monster 35/7/8 night while staying on Rondo all night on defense.

I am still on my earlier prediction of Boston taking 2/3 at home, and the Lakers then winning 6/7 for the title, obviously Kobe has to be there and be big for this to happen so I don’t want to downplay his role, he is still the biggest factor in every game in this series.
So far, you’re right. His shot’s been a bit off but he’s all over the place. Your stat prediction is looking like it’s right on the money. Here’s hoping he goes off in the second half to make me look good, haha.

Just as I wrote that he hit a lefty floater and a contested jumper…

This has nothing to do with the actual game, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard so many sound dumps in an NBA game before. Whoever is on the censor button is putting their work in tonight.

Oh and Kobe is makin me look bad, bastard.

Edit: to clarify ya his shot is off again, but that little burst at the end of the half doesn’t bode well for my prediction. Those last 2 shots were so pretty, I’m not seeing him shooting 40% again in the 2nd half.

^^I was thinking the same thing! they’ve been earning their paycheck tonight

yea its fuking annoying.

AND WHY THE FUCK DONT THE C’S BIGS REBOUND WITH TWO HANDS!!! thats like 8 points because of this. Ray Allen needs to stat making some three’s or the c’s are gonna get blown out. Damn… looking bad right now for the c’s.

I’ve been seeing a trend in the Lakers playoff run so far… to me it seems like they win the game or someone on the other team has a career/monster night and the Lakers lose

In the Thunder Series:
Durant gets 29 points and 19 rebounds to get their first win Lakers lose by 5

In the Suns Series:
Stoudemier goes for 42 points and 11 boards to get their first win Lakers lose by 9
The Suns bench goes off for 54 points to win their second game Lakers lose by 9

In the Celtic Series so far:
Ray Allen sets the NBA Finals Record for 3’s and scores 32 points Lakers lose by 9

Seems to be a reoccurring theme here lol. The only game they lost so far where the other team had its normal production was their second loss to the Thunder

kobe looks a little off on his shot so far. Kevin Garnett is hitting EVERYTHING! He’s playing an outstanding offensive game.

.greg.

EDIT: Kobes shots been off but he’s making a lot of hustle plays and already has a couple blocks on the defensive end

Look at that, Big Baby comes in and the C’s make a good little run to get that lead down from the 10-8 it had been for awhile. I really love that guy off the bench. Also, while it goes against my own semi-prediction from pregame, I just got that feeling that Kobe will quit it with this hot/cold shit and catch fire in the 4th. He keeps bursting for a 2 minute stretch then looking off again, I’d imagine one of these times he won’t cool after after the flash.

^^Yeah i’ve been waiting for him to string 5 or 6 baskets together for a while now. It looks like he’s going to but then will rim out on the next shot. This is going to be an exciting fourth quarter!

You rang?

LA fans can’t be happy with Gasol in that 3rd quarter. I saw him get at least 5-6 touches 1 on 1 with Perkins in a cleared out post, and he didn’t try to do anything but pass out of it. Then Wallace comes in and he gets the same situation, and I think, he has to take it to Sheed right? That’s sure points right there, bucket or foul shots. Tries to force a pass into Kobe who is on the wrong side of the backboard and forced into a bad shot with the shot clock running low.

LA let Boston hang around in that 3rd quarter, and unless Kobe gets that shot going(what a sick 3 btw, Tony Allen got pumped so hard after the near steal) that is almost certainly going to hurt them. Pierce will be back in, Allen could catch a lot fire, this is not the position the Lakers wanted to be in after they looked to be taking over for awhile.

Edit: I guess scratch that Pierce will be back in thing, cause he just got a quick 5th; won’t be seeing him for some time.

100% agreed. I hate when the Lakers let teams hang around. It always seems to come back and bite them in the ass.

Hurry up and get the Celtics starting 5 back in there cause their bench is killing the Lakers! lol

EDIT: Damn it! Fat ass big baby is killing the Lake Show

DOUBLE EDIT: Fisher is taking over the 4th quarter!!! Kobes legs must be done cause his shot is way off… really short on a bunch of those

.greg.

This late game officiating is driving me insane! There needs to be a limit on how many times you can review a play per team, 'cause this shit is getting ridiculous.

^^I was thinking it should be like the NFL where teams get a certain amount of “challenges” per game.

BALL GAME! Lakers take this one. Withstood the come back attempts and had an off shooting night by most of the starters (execpt Fish) and they still come out with the win.

EDIT: Pierce should stop making predictions about how Boston is going to close ever series out at home and not go back to Orlando/LA lol… He should leave the guarantees to wallace… Guaran-Sheeds

.greg.

Derek Fisher beast mode.

If we can get 4 more games like this(without the 2 minute and under officiating replays every 5 seconds) I don’t care who wins the title, that was an enjoyable basketball game to watch.

Damn!! not a celtics fan but i bet 200 on the c’s to win the series… and i gotta say this is one of the worst crushing defeat personally. The c’s played a terrible game and had a chance to steal it at the end but nope… fucking derek fisher once again rescues the lakers. Hopefully they can bounce back thursday.

Also… I wonder what happened to buynum… this could be fucking huge for the series!!! I hate it when players get hurt… I want the c’s to win fairly but it doesnt look to good for him.

^^Although those replays were a little annoying they did get the calls right which is the main thing (except for that bullshit one where Rondo fouled Odom lol)

They should change that rule to give coaches challenges or make it so that the refs can only review during a time out (causing the team who wants a review to call a precious T.O.)
