Think it’s a pretty solid breakdown of what happened. People tend to dismiss Donaghy as some cheater who’s looking to take others down with him, but if you listen to him some of what he says sounds quite plausible.
I didn`t want to comment on it for fear that someone would complain about taking him seriously, but his analysis was pretty unbiased. He never jumped to conclusion or said anything sensationalist, just mentioned bad calls, and pointed out when something was weird or suspicious.

He did an analysis of Game 1 as well, btw.

I also didn’t comment for the same concern. To me it also seemed like a thorough unbiased account of the calls during the game which confirms how poorly this game was officiated. And no, it wasn’t just bad Laker calls although some of them were backbreakers in this game.

I think people should pay attention to this guy. I’m not saying that all of what he says is gospel, but he’s said quite a few things in the last couple of years that seem pretty on point when you look at the facts. It’s like he’s automatically shutdown 'cause no one wants to admit to themselves that he might be telling the truth and ruin their image of pro ball. Maybe I’m getting more jaded as I get older, but there’s a lot more that goes on in pro basketball [sports in general] than what you see on the floor. The fact that the refs have such a direct, hands-on influence over the game allows for the most “interference” from an outside source.

Sacramento La anyone?

Wont be surprised if the Celtics take the first home game but don’t get too confident. Celtics gave up 2 home games to Orlando, a team who they clearly dominated, and you laugh at the prospect of the Lakers taking the Celtics home game?? I’ve said it once and I’ll say it agian, the Celtics have been an EXTREMELY bad home team this year. The Lakers will beat the Celtics at home, I guarantee it. I’d be willing to bet Avi’s on it if you’re soo confident they wont.
im just messing with you man.lol

Look… these are two very good teams and very evenly matched but I think The c’s have an advantage right now. The c’s are feeling confident about themselves having beaten the lakers on their homefloor and I strongly believe that the loss affected the lakers(not kobe) alot.Getting beaten on your floor is always demoralizing. the celtics dont have to win all 3 games. all they need is to win 2 at home and go to staples up 3-2. This will put all the pressure on the lakers because they are the champs and are suppose to win this series. The celtics have proven they they can will in staples and will have two cracks to wrap up the championship.

I’m looking for Pierce to finally play a game. Artest is obviously part of his struggles through 2 games, but 10 points on 2/11 shooting… Truth needs to shut that ugly mug for a game and put in some buckets.

Also part of me expects Kobe to go off tonight after his foul trouble and 8/20; at the same time part of me knows Kobe has an amazingly high ball IQ and might just feed Gasol and Bynum because they were absolutely beastly in game 2. So maybe he puts up a high impact near triple double 25-8-11 or something. Obviously his imprint would be all over the game, and he’ll hit big shots, but there’s no real reason for him not to just dish to his bigs when they are man handling the post so far.

A lot of the above paragraph depends on foul trouble all around though, I really hope to see a more ‘let them play’ mentality from the refs tonight.

Red, there’s no reason Kobe can’t do both. It’s entirely possible he gets 30+, 7+, & 7+ with a couple of steals and 1-2 blocks. That’s pretty much what he’s done all post season, and what he did in game 1. People need to realize that even with being saddled with foul trouble and playing inconsistent minutes he still put up 21 on 45% shooting. If the refs didn’t steal that game from the Lakers he gets his usual numbers and the Lakers win. Last game Allen had the game of his life, Rondo had damn near the best game of his career, Kobe played with serious foul trouble, the Lakers got straight fucked by the refs and had almost zero production from their role players and the C’s still only won by 9. The Lakers are clearly the better team, and if this thing is officiated fairly this series wraps up pretty quickly. It really sucks that we have to base our predictions off of officiating, but if it’s called fair the Lakers take this. If it’s not, it goes C’s.

no excuses bad calls have gone both ways.
drewh wrote:

Even in all your trollious glory you can’t compare the calls between the teams. The Cet’s have seen some bad calls. The Lakers lost the game due to officiating. Big difference.

trollious? Hahahaha!!! The call where the refs checked the replay and still said the ball went off Gasol when it was clearly Kevin Garnett’s hand was one of a few back breakers towards the end of that game.

I agree that it took a record night from Allen, one of only 8 triple doubles ever in the finals from Rondo and the game was still tied with 2 minutes to go. And there is way too many people fretting over home court for this series. Both teams are good on the road and for this series it doesn’t seem like it’s really going to matter. Also, enough prognostication about who has momentum going from one game to another. There’s no such thing.

It comes down to who wants it more tonight and who imposes their will and sticks to their game plan (assuming the refs dont become the main event again). The Lakers clearly are the better team after seeing these two games. But they still need to exert as much will and desire as the Celtics are capable of displaying if they’re going to win this series.

I’m predicting a Lakers win tonight.

A championship team always finds a way to win. The loser always cries about the refs. If the lakers lose this series, It wont be because of the refs but for the celtics being the better team. Look back at the last 20 years of the nba finals, I can't recall in any one of them that the losing team was robbed, and thats because the better team always wins... with bad officiating or not. They fucking find a way!!!!

btw.. its a much better marketing decision from the nba to let the lakers win. So all this bullshit needs to go. You implied in your last sentence that the only way the c's win is if the officiating is corrupted. If this was mere frustration on your part,ok I understand, but if you truly believe that the only way the c's can win is with help from the refs, thats not really sane of you. Its the Lakers vs celtics, the two last champions of the nba, the celtics have beaten the lakers already. The only way the celtics win is if the refs help???!!??!? come on, man.lol

both teams had 29 pf stop making shitty excuses for the lakers. Allen an PP were in foul trouble but when the celts lose it’s because of how good LA is gtfo with this garbage.

Its the Lakers vs celtics, the two last champions of the nba, the celtics have beaten the lakers already. The only way the celtics win is if the refs help???!!??!? come on, man.lol
I’m sorry, have you not been watching the games? I don’t know how more clearly I can make my point. The Lakers got FUCKED. If their best player is forced to sit because of bullshit officiating, then no, they can’t win. With all of the absolutely retarded shit you’ve said throught these threads I was hoping you’d at least be able to figure that out. Guess not.
Ive made a few predictions that didn’t come true… im a retard now cause I don’t know the future? all along you been hanging on to kobes nutsack and the number one seeded lakers… that
doesn’t make you nostradamus and you have hyped the lakers up soo much that sometimes i think that the c’s are playing the dream team.

Hanginig on his nutsack? Dude, you’ve predicted the Lakers would lose a couple of times now. I may not be Nastradamus but you’re still fucking clueless about basketball. Take a posting break, go watch some NBA tv [or any sports channel really, they’re all saying basically what I am] and come back with something relevant to say. Adios.
I never predicted the lakers to lose a series… after the nuggets were eliminated… i knew it was gonna be smooth sailing from there. Get off of kobes sack.good day, sir.
