Here’s a former NBA ref’s take on last night’s officiating:
the main thing that discredits that post is tom donaghy.
I think the officiating was terrible all around as I previous pointed out. It just so happens that Kobe being strapped with foul trouble has more impact on LA than Perkins/a not so hot right now KG does for Boston. Boston has replacement big men on that bench(Sheed, Davis), there’s no Kobe ready to step in when he’s out early with 3(and then his 4th quick in the 3rd).
LOL @ Ray Allen shutting down Kobe. The refs shut down Kobe. Retareded officiating is all that was. Props to Ray Allen and Rondo. Lakers in 6.
The refs shut down Kobe in game 2 just like they shut down Ray Allen in game 1. Its a shame that the team who’s stars are getting hit with lots of phantom foul calls are losing these games. The officials shouldnt be deciding this series the players should… but that hasnt been the case so far in these first two games.

Sure he’s a ex-con, then once you get past that it’s an interesting perspective

Yeah that about covers it.
It’s perplexing. not good for appearances either

Another endearing note, my son has brought one of the ticket stubs with him to school today so he can show all of his little 9 year old friends. This just cracks me up! I think I’m going to hug him just for doing this.[/quote]
That’s awesome.
Tell him the tooth fairy will leave her panties under his pillow if he leaves out the ticket stub. (or wait until he’s a teen)
Kobe needs to stop whining and man up.
On a similar note this whole “oh he was playing with 5 fouls so he couldn’t be aggressive” thing is really getting old and pathetic, even more so because its only LA fans who are crying about it. Heres the facts. The game was close right up until the last minute, at this point if Kobe wanted to takeover he should have taken over by driving to the basket anyway. The worst thing that could happen is that he misses 40 seconds with a 4-7 point deficit on the scoreboard. LOL. In addition what are the chances, REALLY, that Kobe, a superstar, gets charged with an offensive foul by posting up/taking it strong to the basket especially when the refs know he has 5 fouls. Say whatever you want but I think the % that he gets called with a charge on a post spin move to a layup is in the 10% range. The only thing would be an obvious elbow. But if you’re scared of shit like that how great are you? Surely in the gym during the summer you’re not elbowing Sasha Vujacic in drills. So basically if Kobe’s not creating something but just jacking up shots then why have Kobe on the court at all? Fact is, he missed shots – leading to the conclusion that fouls are NO EXCUSE FOR KOBE NOT DOMINATING THE END OF THE GAME.
This is not a shot at Kobe, this is a shot at all the Laker fans who thought otherwise.
The reason they lost at the end was because of Rajon Rondo. Finals MVP.
NB: Whiteflash has beef with me.
EDIT: If you feel the need to ‘protect’ Kobe you are making him WEAKER.
I’ve been saying it Rajon Rondo finally someone agrees.
celtics crush lakers tonight.
Lakers respond to last game with another double digit victory.

Seriously, you never cease to amaze me with the ridiculousness of some of your posts. Newsflash, it’s kinda basketball 101. When saddled with foul trouble, it affects your play. I know, real controversial stuff there. It’s a conspiracy. It’s the bias of the Laker fans.
Do me a favor, go out and read 10 reputable analyst articles regarding that game and you will see more than a few that say the same thing. I guess they’re all bias Laker fans as well and they’re just not telling us?
And I guess that’s why Ray Allen had an incredible game 1 when he was saddled with foul trouble (also ended up with 5 fouls) all night?
You know, it’s interesting. The level of commentary, thoughtful posts and and NBA/basketball knowledge seems to emanate from a few of the posters on here that also happen to be Lakers fans. Yes, there is some bias along with the insight but my observation still stands.
On the other hand, the most illogical, emotional and posts demonstrating the most general lack of insight into the game of basketball happen to be concentrated in a few posters that are Laker haters on this thread. Hmmm…

Wont be surprised if the Celtics take the first home game but don’t get too confident. Celtics gave up 2 home games to Orlando, a team who they clearly dominated, and you laugh at the prospect of the Lakers taking the Celtics home game?? I’ve said it once and I’ll say it agian, the Celtics have been an EXTREMELY bad home team this year. The Lakers will beat the Celtics at home, I guarantee it. I’d be willing to bet Avi’s on it if you’re soo confident they wont.

Think it’s a pretty solid breakdown of what happened. People tend to dismiss Donaghy as some cheater who’s looking to take others down with him, but if you listen to him some of what he says sounds quite plausible.

There are a few people here who seem to understand the game like T, you, Andrew, Chillain, Greg, Red, etc… [if I forgot you and you know that you know basketball, my bad] and then there are the others. DrewH is a troll who likes to ruffle feathers, and Get is completely clueless about the game. And Get, I don’t have “beef” with you. You might be a really cool guy in real life. But, even if that were the case it wouldn’t change the fact that you know dick about basketball. If others here constantly tell you you’re wrong, yet you still think you’re right, there’s a problem. And, I doubt it’s our collective communication skills.
Yes, I was really calling out Get and drewH. Former knows little about the game of basketball and the latter doesn’t know much and also trolls sometimes.
If there’s honest officiating the Lakers take this. If the same officiating that went down in game 2 goes down tonight, so will the Lakers.
