2010 NBA Playoff Thread Part 2: The Return

Hey, hey I take offense and some of the remarks directed at me a couple of pages back! I mean c’mon to say I don’t know anything about basketball is like saying a dude who owns a lodge in the Alps doesnt know how to ski. Its just stupid! C’mon, I’m just trying to give different perspectives and spice things up every now and again ON PURPOSE. I’ve been playing bball and watching NBA ball since I was 7.

'Cuse if you look at my first few posts in this thread (the first one) I was writing the kinda shit you rand and flash post. But then I realised that this normal type of analysis is not only worthless but a waste of time. What am I going to say that isn’t obvious to anyone that has watched the games. All you need to do is to read enough sports pieces to figure out that they are all similar and just state the obvious. There was a piece on cracked.com that had sports writers the no.1 most B.S profession. When they try to make predictions they predict the outcome but emphasize the silver lining, like flash does in his posts, that IF Team A does this, if the officiating is good then they SHOULD win. Sports like stock anlysis is way too dynamic to make any certain predictions and the analysis is useless because you have no idea how that hypothetical Team A will actually play on game night.

/rant

But yeah, other than that i’m very disappointed by the basketball being played these finals. Both teams look weak. Its like none of them really want it (the championship) that much. Kobe looks relaxed compared to what I’ve seen before and Paul Pierce and Allen give off the vibe that they’d rather go bowling with the boys then play their best ball

My favorite part of tonight’s game was Nate Robinson ready to get up on his step ladder and go chest to chest with Odom. Maybe if Big Baby throws him up on his shoulders like swimming pool chicken fighting.

sorry i could have sworn lamar odom was once an allstar.

If the c’s win two more games… they should be the champions.

Yeah, 35 more minutes and it should be the top of the hour.

Here’s the deal: Pepple are gonna expect Bryant to do “heroic” things. He needs the ball to do those things though. If he hits two contested 3’s in a row, then get him the fucking ball the next time down the floor, don’t freeze him out for 2 straight possessions. He can get hot like no one else in NBA history, and if he gets rolling there’s not much that can be done. That’s a lot of pressure though, and tonight proved that even if he gets his, his team has to step up. You can pencil in Bryant for 30+/- and Gasol for 20-ish every night. Lakers not named Bryant or Gasol accounted for 35pts. Davis and Robinson combined for 30 between the 2 of them. That’s just straight not gonna cut it. Fisher sat with foul trouble, and everyone else apparently forgot that this is the fucking NBA finals. I imagine Bynum sat to conserve himself, or Jackson sat him to conserve him. Either way, if he doesn’t [or can’t] play the rest of the way then everyone else needs to pull their heads out of their collective asses and get the job done. Even with that, the pressure’s on the C’s 'cause they DO NOT want to come to LA down 3-2. The officiating is still shit, but the Celtics played like they just plain wanted it more tonight. [/quote]

Whiteflash, unless Bryant can score 50 points against this defense it’s going to be a lot harder to win without Bynum on the floor. And asking Bryant to score that many points is a tall order. The Celtics are an excellent 1 on 1 defender team so they let Bryant get his 30+ plus points and shut every one else down.

Bryant had a great game last night but it wasn’t enough. Bynum was out most of the game and look at what happened to the stats:

It was no coincidence that the Lakers got pummeled in the paint, 54-34, and outrebounded 41-34. Second-chance point also went the Celtics’ way, 20-10.

Now all the fucking vultures are coming out on this thread talking a bunch of shit about Bryant, GOAT status, etc.

The bottomline is would be like losing Kevin Garnett again like the Celts did last year. I can’t believe we’re down to “what is the status of Bynum’s knee for game 5 and the rest of the series?”

Someone mentioned Odom. Yeah, in theory Odom should be the one stepping up but he’s the biggest freakin head case there is and he didn’t show up again last night when the Lakers needed him most.

Sigh…

I sure hope to God Bynum is right in his own belief:

“Bynum said after the game that he would play Game 5 Sunday night. He will get two days of treatment on the right knee that has a torn meniscus in it. He said he will likely hold off on draining the knee again â?? which he had done before this series â?? and is confident he can contribute more than his two points and three rebounds in 12:10 of play Thursday night.”

Yes, Laker fans. This guy is this important to us.

…That’s why I said even if he gets his his team has to step up…

I cant stand big baby’s face, his shitty grin, his disgusting dances, and the way he’s always licking his own face.

I also cant stand ray allen lifting one side of his lip like he’s rampage jackson.

Lakers in 6.

waiting for Rand and Flash to blame this on Bynum when the Celts win.

well when Bynum is in they’re a different team. If Garnett gets hurt and is out wouldnt Celtics fans blame him for losing the series?

Dude, Drewh has proven to be a troll and Get has proven - despite long winded posts claiming that he was just playing Devil’s advocate and really does know what he’s talking about - that he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Unless either of 'em says something worthwhile or something so outlandish you can’t let it go I’ve decided to just act like the post doesn’t exist.

he knows it’s true, and if KG got hurt people would just blab about how kobe is goat and the greatest player.

Kobe, tell me how my ASS taste
signed Celtics fan that saw bird v magic
Rasheed Wallace is a tool though
David Stern is an assclown
that is all, you college kids are dismissed

True, but if Bynum can’t go it’ll show a lot about the Lakers. Sports aren’t always “fair”, and last night the Lakers didn’t adjust to not having Bynum. With him they’re clearly the better team. Without him [at least last night] the Celtics as a whole looked like they wanted it more. From here on out the Lakers need to play like Bynum’s not coming back, and if they do get anything from him it’s a blessing. If the Lakers can get some consistent production from everyone not named Bryant or Gasol [specifically Odom and Artest] and play the D they’ve been playing they will win. So far though, that hasn’t happened but for one game. Yeah it sucks that Bynum’s not healthy, but that’s life. A championship team would figure out how to win 2 out of the next 3 games no matter what. We’ll see who wants it more over the next week. I’m fucking pumped about Sunday’s game.

You’re such a little weasel. Your new avatar is fitting.

It all comes down to Lamar Odom. And he hasn’t shown up in 3 of these 4 games. And he’s talking about how it’s a team effort after last night’s loss when he got embarrassed by Big Baby. I’m starting to dislike Lamar again. The dude can’t f’n stand up when he’s needed. Bastard. Hopefully he’ll make me eat these words but I’m not counting on it.
