2010 College Football

Welp,

I am a LOT less worried about Alabama right now than I was a week or two ago.

Trey Burton… 6 TDs. Alabama… not very impressive, considering Mallet basically handed them the game.

I really hope we’re witnessing another Leak/Tebow dynamic here with Brantley/Burton.
Strangely I feel better about the Florida game than I did before the Arkansas game. The young defense got burned, coaches adjusted and Arkansas had what, 103 yards or so, in the second half?

I’m not saying Bama’s a lock to win but I’m glad they got tested before the Florida game rather than getting tested against Florida. I’ll be interested to see if the Florida that played Kentucky shows up or the Forida that played the first three games shows up.

I think Texas is going to get completely annihilated… Based on he schedule I can see 3 more losses this season… especially after the UCLA game. They don’t have anything going for them on either side of the ball.
OU isn’t that great this year either. Also, UCLA runs the funky pistol offense (not that I fully know what it is lol), which also was a big factor. Cal gave up 52 pts to Nevada’s pistol offense last week, but gave up 10 pts to Arizona this week (and 10 pts combined in its first 2 games against cupcakes).
The pistol is when the running back lines up behind the QB when he is in Shotgun formation.
Texas has a secondary, it was built to go against the spread offense that most of the Big 12 runs. They looked like shit, but one game does not make a season.
I agree one game does not make a season.

I think the OU vs. Texas game will show if Texas really has a lot of problems or the UCLA was just poor performace all around. I think this will be a good game because we get to see how good or bad both teams really are.
Agreed, I think after the 4 games we can see where Texas is weak. Adjusting to this will be the coaching challenge, Texas has blue chip recruits and depth. Honestly OU and Texas are pretty evenly matched on what they have lost and starting over with. Just going to be one of those years. I now have to take my hat off to Nebraska, unless they really shot themselves in the foot should take the big 12.

I wouldn’t feel too bad if I were you. The Oklahoma defense is just handing out yards and touchdowns to opposing offenses. OU has allowed over 900 yards of total offense in the last two games. And as bad as Texas looked on offense, I expect them to have success moving the ball and putting some points on the board. Texas hasn’t looked very good running the ball, but at least they are going up against an OU defense that has given up large amounts of rushing yards to pretty much everyone they have played.

I see many people predicting this game to be low scoring, but I think both teams will score at least 20 points. I also foresee a pretty sloppy game too, similar to last year, but with more points scored.

I’m leaning towards OU winning, simply because Landry Jones has played just good enough (and the offense for that matter) to win. And the offense has done pretty well taking care of the ball. The OU homer in me thinks that somehow OU will play a complete game (ala FSU) and win big, but I’m not holding my breath.

My Huskers played like crap, almost like they were in a fog or something against South Dakota State, Nebraska won it 17-3, but the offense was full of mistakes and turnovers.

LUCK FOR HEISMAN!

I won’t be able to get to the Oregon game because of work, but I will be at Stanford Stadium the next week to see our defense destroy Matt Barkely. I can’t wait for that.
I don’t think Stanford will destroy Barkley, as our running game is on point. If anything, I see both defenses struggling, making this a shoot out, something like 35-32.

I see the Stanford-Oregon game being a tough one to call. It’s at Oregon, meaning tough crowd and fast turf. Both teams stack up well, I give this one to Stanford, unless the Oregon defense shows up.

God, Texas should be number one you guys are all haterz

ololol god we suck

You’re right! But hey, losing to Bama is definitely much more bearable than losing to UCLA, heh heh.

The Texas loss was not about UCLA being good, but that Texas just didn’t show up. Trust me, if they played again, UCLA would get their asses handed to them. But that is the nature of college football, shit is capable of happening at any time.

the real game this weekend is USC vs Washington… Cause I’m gonna be there! haha cant wait.

The Stanford D is pretty damn stout, especially against the run.

I do think these next two games are going to be huge tests for Stanford, and I’m pretty amped/nervous for 'em. I think if they can take both Oregon and USC, the Cardinal deserve to be in the top 5, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

The game this weekend against Oregon should be epic, especially as it’s in one of the loudest stadiums in all of college football.

If Stanford beats Oregon and then USC (especially if the games arent really close) then they will be top 5 for sure. Probably top 4… they would be poised for a National Championship run for sure

Agreed, if Stanford can beat up USC and Oregon convincingly, I would consider them a serious contender for the National Title, and most likely Pac-10 champs.

is any of this for sure?

I’ve been to about a dozen NFL games over the years but never a college game. Not trying to hi-jack this thread or anything like that but I’ve always been curious as to the differsances between the two in regards to atmosphere and general vibe at the games.

Are the college games catered more to familys with youngsters and such. Do they serve beer?

And what ever happened to the half jerseys in college ball.

Thanks

 1. College games are 10 times more fun to go to, some campuses serve beer some do not. The atmosphere is just more intense than the NFL.
 2. It can be a family afair, but do NOT get seats near the college kids seats.
 3. Nobody wants to see hairy ass mens belly buttons, thus out goes the half jerseys.

Yes, because I said so. I can be brutally critical, especially of my own team. They would certainly have earned and be worthy for a chance at a National Title, I know it doesn’t end up that way sometimes, but I like to see teams get what they earn. Beat us and Oregon convincingly, and you have my vote.
