I like the way you think.

LUCK FOR HEISMAN!

I won’t be able to get to the Oregon game because of work, but I will be at Stanford Stadium the next week to see our defense destroy Matt Barkely. I can’t wait for that.
I don’t think Stanford will destroy Barkley, as our running game is on point. If anything, I see both defenses struggling, making this a shoot out, something like 35-32.
The Stanford D is pretty damn stout, especially against the run.

I do think these next two games are going to be huge tests for Stanford, and I’m pretty amped/nervous for 'em. I think if they can take both Oregon and USC, the Cardinal deserve to be in the top 5, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

The game this weekend against Oregon should be epic, especially as it’s in one of the loudest stadiums in all of college football.
If Stanford beats Oregon and then USC (especially if the games arent really close) then they will be top 5 for sure. Probably top 4… they would be poised for a National Championship run for sure
is any of this for sure?
Yes, because I said so. I can be brutally critical, especially of my own team. They would certainly have earned and be worthy for a chance at a National Title, I know it doesn’t end up that way sometimes, but I like to see teams get what they earn. Beat us and Oregon convincingly, and you have my vote.
I was actually poking fun at gregron…

I’ve been to about a dozen NFL games over the years but never a college game. Not trying to hi-jack this thread or anything like that but I’ve always been curious as to the differsances between the two in regards to atmosphere and general vibe at the games.

Are the college games catered more to familys with youngsters and such. Do they serve beer?

And what ever happened to the half jerseys in college ball.

Thanks
I actually think that the NFL is more catered towards the ‘common’ person now, including kids and families, for sure.

College football is, and I’m sorry to say, a little more hardcore in SOME senses. Less leeway with losing… higher stakes. You think it’s hard to be away in an NFL stadium with 60,000 moderately enthused fans? Try going to the Swamp or the Horseshoe and not get your socks knocked off by 100,000 fans (30,000 of which are stupidly drunk students / alumni.)

Plus, there’s much bigger upsets. NFL teams are pretty evenly matched, all things considered, so when the Dolphins upset the Jets it’s not like OMG… but when Appalachian State comes and beats Michigan in the Big House… all hell breaks loose.

God, I <3 college football.

My bad WC.

No worries. Anybody see that Oklahoma State game last night? It actually turned out to be really good.

That’s what I love about college football. Every game has so much excitement and energy behind it because of the students and fans, and every game can turn into a classic, even if they aren’t battling for a top AP spot or a bowl bid. No worries about contracts or money or front office politics, the kids just want to win, and that’s when the sport is at it’s best.

I flipped over to it a few times over the course of the evening. That kicker got so much ass last night.

I’m not buying anybody as a front runner just yet. There are top ten teams with no wins over ranked teams.

After Bama beats Florida will be the only real front runner. What about a Bama/Stanford BCS championship?

That sounds like a good BCS game, but I will be hoping my Huskers make it to the BDC championship. I will settle for a Big 12 Title.

I just threw Stanford up there because of the recent talk, but me personally, Bama/Huskers would be a smash mouth old school fight.

Thats it, I gotta go to a Michigan game somehow.

A friend of mine who’s right off the boat from Ireland went to a Notre Dame game a few years ago and was blown away. All he had to do was start talkin’ Irish and boom, free drinks lol, he was treated like a god the whole time. What really blew his mind was how many rich alums fly in from all over the country for every home game.

Football is very sparadic here, more like pockets of intrest. The city I live in(pop 360,000) has a uni that is consistently in the top ten year after year, the stadium hold 8000 lol. We have the passion for football but lack the sheer volume of people. Hockey is king…period,

Thanks for the insight, you too DJHT.

Go texas! OU still sucks etc… etc…

That would be awesome/might blow my mind, and we would definitely be betting on it.

The Stanford/Oregon game will show us who really deserves to be in the top 5, and I just hope Stanford’s stout 3-4 D can shut down the Oregon’s explosive offense. If only the game was decided on average IQ…

If Luck has a big game, Stanford wins. If James has a big game, Oregon wins.

FEAR THE TREE!

We are at that half-hearted point now arent we man? After watching this week and some of the talking heads, Texas should just not show up at all.

I think a key to this game is Stanford needs to punch Oregon in the mouth early, in the past Oregon hasn’t responded well.

Stanford needs to grind this game out and keep the Oregon offense off the field.

I think this will be a good game to watch today, I don’t have a winner predicted but I do think it will be close and the final score is by a TD.

I would like to see that match up.

All the more reason not to listen to the national sports media.

Texas will play well. Both of these teams could be total garbage and they would still show up and play this game like their lives were on the line.

I’m nervous.

Texas def is settling down a bit… but it doesn’t look like they will be the answer… hopefully the offense showed up to play today.

No the offense did not show up. Only down two scores look like it was going to be a total beat down. I have no answers to this, I cant tell if Gilbert is being held back by play calling. Just have to wait and see.

agreed… 3rd and 3 became a 3rd and 13 with two back to back false starts /facepalm. We’re not going to get anywhere with things like that. Also we’ve gone 3 and out on 80ish% of our drives. hopefully mack brown can rally the troops over half.
